Thinking about how they not only made pinkie pie canonically straight but they just had to involve weird al in it

HUH

WEIRD AL WAS A REOCCURING CHARACTER AND IN THE LAST EPISODE SHE HAD HIS BABY OKAY IM NOT INTO IT EITHER

HUH

there are people commenting that she could still be bi and while that is correct and yall are valid you have to understand that that in no way lessens the impact of the fact that she was canonically impregnated by weird al’s self insert OC

He knows, and it’s even better.

Tumblr, I lived through this once live, I don't need a reenactment.

This is such a stunning contrast between the last Ashton and Laudna talks.

Laudna is on the brink of tears, trying not to talk or she'll cry, so terrified Imogen is dead and the others might be too... and Ashton doesn't push. They don't get her to get angry, they don't prompt her to dig into rage and loneliness and even fear.

Ashton just... comforts her. Rough edges river-smoothed. Despite the stupidly long day, and probably being in a fuckton of pain from all the activity and rages. And stubbornly, but gently, insists they'll find their friends. They'll go to space if they have to. They'll bring them back from the dead too. No one gets left behind.

"There is no failure in this. We are going to figure it out because it's what matters."

Go have a nice day everyone ☀️

Dr. John Seward, post-rejection: All is woe. If I did not have work in the examination of others, my life and my mind would collapse into the void they so truly wish to be. Love for me is an illusion and so I must make do with turning the lens without, lest it see within and find the deficiencies waiting inside. Examine the Other. Examine the Other. Are you the Other?

Quincey P. Morris, post-rejection: Congrats on the proposal, Art! Want to go hang by the campfire with Dr. Goth for a toast? (We need to get some liquor in him or I think he’s going to try to physically fold himself into his phonograph horn and not come out. Again.)

When I found out calico cats are (were?) sometimes called dairymaids, I thought that was the cutest thing.

I also wondered why, which got me thinking the white markings could kinda look like milk.

Which got me thinking of cute nicknames and sayings for that.

Have started planning an Apple Cider Queer Day in which i dress up and then I buy apple cider on the way to a book store where I buy a pile of queer comics and then head to a giant park in the height of autumn and feast and read and drink apple cider and revel in the raw energy of being alive in a beautiful surrounding whirl of the greatest season the year reading joyous and heart breaking and wonder filled comics, some of the best literature and art humanity has ever crafted

I shall pursue an excess of joy with a ruthless determination against a world that would break me with a savagery it is ill prepared to anticipate much less counter.

It was basically like this

“Authors should not be ALLOWED to write about–” you are an anti-intellectual and functionally a conservative

“This book should be taken off of shelves for featuring–” you are an anti-intellectual and functionally a conservative

“Schools shouldn’t teach this book in class because–” you are an anti-intellectual and functionally a conservative

“Nobody actually likes or wants to read classics because they’re–” you are an anti-intellectual and an idiot

“I only read YA fantasy books because every classic novel or work of literary fiction is problematic and features–” you are an anti-intellectual and you are robbing yourself of the full richness of the human experience.

"you are functionally a conservative" is such a good and clarifying insult

Literally right after I saw this post, I saw another post in a discord chat for BOOK EDITORS in which an outspokenly liberal editor talked about how Nabokov should have never been published because he wrote about p*dophiles and described women's bodies in ways that made her uncomfortable. She described his writing as "objectively terrible" and said she wanted to burn his books. And other editors were bringing up classics they didn't like and talking about how they wanted to throw them in the trash. This wasn't like a light "unpopular opinion!" conversation. This was actual book editors talking about how books should be destroyed and censored.

There is something so scary and toxic in global culture right now. The revival of fascism is influencing everyone's mindset and approach to art, regardless of where they fall on the political spectrum.

I see far more books being censored today than when I was a kid. Librarians handed me The Catcher in the Rye, The Sexual Politics of Meat, and Animal Farm when I was literally 8-11. My mom would never have taken a book away from me. I read everything from the Tao Te Ching to the Qur'an to atheist texts under my desk at school. Teachers thought nothing of it or encouraged it. Books seemed universally acknowledged as sacrosanct to me.

Now I can't find any adults who don't hesitate or want to make exceptions when it comes to censorship. Even the most liberal social activist librarians I know go, "well except for book X..."

Functionally conservative. It's so important to have the language to express that.

Thank you for this addition!

stopping at an understaffed, overcrowded fast food restaurant while on a road trip and crouching over your phone with your chicken sandwich at a corner table like a weary adventurer eating a bowl of unidentifiable stew at a nameless inn, the only one for miles of moor and wood, taking in the chatter around you but speaking to none before pulling your cloak back up over your head and taking t' the road once more

Leaning over the counter of the TacoTime in Rexburg Idaho, asking if the 16 year old Mormon girl there has heard any rumors.

Very funny of me to complain that the Locked Tomb series has too many people to keep track of when The Locked Tomb series is working SO hard to cut down on the literal number of living bodies on the page at all times

i was trying to explain this problem to my mom bc my dad is reading gtn rn, and she's worried he's not Getting It. and i was like, "well, there are a lot of characters. but most of them die."

and she was like, "...okay."

"of course, they're necromancers, so that means almost nothing."
