Welcome to the mun’s side blog!

will post any ooc stuff here from now on and keep my other reblogs not related to Nox here so as not to bury my blog in it (largely for my own sanity as digging through my 9000+ posts to find something is a nightmare when tags don’t work as they should) my other blogs are:  @nox-lunarwing  @nightmare-nox I will add more as I make them ^.=.^

Effective and elegant—new research reveals the swimming mechanics of gossamer worms.

Unlike its bottom-dwelling kin, the gossamer worm (Tomopteris sp.) lives in constant motion. This graceful swimmer “dances” through the midwater with the rhythmic paddling of its swimming legs. A new study published in Integrative and Comparative Biology this summer from MBARI researchers Joost Daniels and Kakani Katija, with collaborators Karen Osborn and her team @smithsonian, has revealed the swimming behavior of gossamer worms in fine detail.

A flexible body plan allows Tomopteris to combine multiple modes of propulsion to achieve effective—and elegant—swimming. This makes the gossamer worm’s anatomy and swimming mechanics interesting for engineers. In the future, this worm could inspire new designs for everything from underwater propulsion to medical technology. Learn more about this incredible intersection of engineering and biology on our website.

Heres my part of the trade with @ask-whiteblade I love to see more stuff with summer and white as sneks xD

Summer was casting a spell to make her pony again butt it was interrupted by a curious pony

"It's not my fault…" White Blade asserted with her usual blasé air, now in the same situation as Summer. They both look smart now…

Mod: Yeaaaaaah this drawing is adorable, I love it and Summer is as cute as ever! Thanks for taking the time to do it :D

when i was post op after top surgery i had a good friend there with me to help recover. but the nurse didnt get the memo and when i woke up she was like “ok i’m gonna go get your girlfriend and bring her in to see you!” and i remember being so zonked on anesthesia and so disoriented i just laid there thinking wow…… all that an they’re bringing me a girlfriend too this place is amazing

Having your own personal blog is honestly quite a nice change of pace compared to Reddit. I could put a funny GIF of George Bush getting hit by a shoe on here and the worse case scenario is that no one even notices.

You put that on a big subreddit and you get your eyes gouged out and a heap of political discourse underneath your post.

"Stop saying 15 year olds with weird interests are cringe, they're 15" this is true however you should also stop saying adults with weird interests are cringe because who gives a shit

To wit:

I want to share some wisdom from my high school art teacher.

In my AP Art class, there was a girl who was just starting to experiment with mixed media. At this point she was still playing around, trying to decide what direction she wanted to go with her portfolio. So one critique day, she brought in an abstract canvas with some rhinestone highlights and painted and real peacock feathers. She loved sparkles and peacock feathers so she thought she’d try introducing them a *little*. And after everyone had given some input, the teacher gave her his advice, VERY roughly paraphrased here:

“So here’s the thing… I do not like this style. These are just elements that do not speak to me personally, but I see that you like them, and you’re doing interesting things with them.

“My biggest critique is, I only merely *dislike* this piece. I want you to make me HATE it. Go crazy with the things that you like. Don’t hold back trying to make it palatable to people like me. Because I am NEVER going to like it. And if the audience does not like it, it should drive them crazy seeing how much YOU love it.”

Her portfolio was chock full of neon colors and glitter and rhinestones and splashes of peacock feathers and it was a delight. Our teacher despised every piece lol, but she got great marks and I think even won some awards. And more importantly, she was happy and proud of the results. Because she didn’t limit herself by trying to appeal to people who were never going to enjoy what she enjoyed.

Takeaway here: be as cringe as you want. Don’t limit yourself based on other ppl’s tastes. They’re not you, and you are incredible 💕
