Road To Nowhere

So, I’m not dead, just quite busy.

But when I got this in the mail today, I have to admit I died a little *_*

I’m just back here briefly, to say...

I stopped watching Spn a long time ago, just stayed in the fandom for Sastiel. I only ever come back and watch when Sastiel is involved, but since I just learned what happened in the finale, let me say a few words.

This show has been a Dean-centric shitshow basically for its entire duration, and the Dean-centrism got even worse in later seasons, as the prominent issues with the so-called “hero” were never addressed. I obviously did not expect it to end any other way. Not with the current writing and production team. Honestly, I’ve read fics that were 800% more coherent and cohesive and way better at addressing problematic behaviour.

So yeah, they really nailed it, if you mean turning something that was supposed to be about family and love overcoming any evil, into a ridiculous attempt to tie all ends last minute for the main characters only, while forgetting any growth, any side character, any other good option that went full on wasted. This is probably even worse than the HIMYM finale xD Let’s not even talk about the hope for a semicanon unrequited, abusive relationship they dangled in front of D*stiel people in previous episodes, cause I just want to forget how they really reached new lows in doing characters dirty...

ANYWAY, I did not expect anything less from this team of clowns, as they had already achieved the - admittedly hard to reach - goal of completely destroying my fave characters way before, by slowly turning them into empty shells and mere shadows of a deeply, deeply flawed “hero” who as expected maintained his assigned status all the way through the end, and y’know, even tho I will forever be pissed about this, it’s somehow comforting to know that it’s fictional, that this is all just very bad writing. I’m kinda feeling more sorry for Kripke, must burn like hell to see one of your works turned into something this bad LOL

So, while I’ll forever hate with the force of a million suns what this show has turned into, what it did to the characters, its glorification of an entitled bastard who abused his entire family, the missed opportunities, the values it threw in the trash, I can still choose to be in denial. We can take the good parts from it, and try to fix it for ourselves, any way we like. The Sastiel community has been so welcoming, full of great people who made me feel at home as we all share a similar vision and I’m NOT letting it go just because the canon sucks. That shit, dear people, is not my canon. I’ll still be around for great Sastiel content, cause that, that is worth my time and appreciation, there are magnificent people here who make incredibly good content, and I won’t let a horrible canonical version deprive me of it.

Hopefully y’all won’t, either. We can still make it better together.

A final note: this is not a rant about Sastiel not getting canon, as I never even expected it to. I always knew it would have no chance, but still think it would have made more sense than any of this.
