Reading Howls Moving Castle the first time I didn’t notice thier relationship blooming until the house bit (mostly cause that’s the part I also remember from the movie)
Going through it again now I’m realizing Sophie (and by extension me) might just be dumb as hell because oh my god does he go from wanting her attention cause he’s a flirt to “SOPHIEEEE LOOK WHAT I DID!”
Gives her nice clothes, doesn’t pressure her on the spell, buys her a house, oh Sophie said she wants to sell flowers- HOW ABOUT I GET HER A FLOWER FEILD, oh no I upset her might as welL INVITE HER ENTIRE FAMILY INTO MY HOME TO VISIT WHILE ALSO KEEPING HER SAFE FROM THE DEMON AFTER ME, all this with without knowing what she really looked like btw and when he does see her- immediate flirting as his a satan spawn isn’t less than five feet away from them.

- when sophie and michael are leaving to catch stars and calcifer blazes up real loud and yells for them not to go [he does not want either of them to get pulled into a life ruining situation like his and howl's]
- sophie and mrs fairfax chasing the dog man around the yard while michael chases sophie yelling "STOP YOU'LL MAKE HERSELF ILL"
- sophie realized she was expected to admire it, so she managed not to say anything
- howl yelling at calcifer for not telling him about the dog man and saying "this is twice you've let me down" HE GOT SO ANGRY AT CALCIFER FOR NOT TELLING HIM ABOUT SOPHIE'S CURSE idk I'm obsessed with the lot of them

Percy and Annabeth had something real. They fell in love somewhere between bookstore kittens and vintage novels with pages tinted yellow with time, and they were happy. It’s rare, finding the type of love they did. It’s even more rare making it last. Read on AO3.
Percy thinks that as much as he enjoys working in a bookstore, it can get pretty boring.
The boredom winds up mainly because Annabeth seems to be absent today. She typically hangs around while he works, curled up on a beanbag by the window with a new novel in her hands. It’s a cute sight, and he recalls when he used to do the same thing when he was younger, minus the reading. When it was just him and his mom, she couldn’t always afford to stay home on days he was sick and couldn’t go to school, so he grew used to the corner beanbag and the feeling of sunlight filtering on his skin. He’s gotten used to Annabeth sitting in that same spot too, and though he’s reassured her before that she doesn’t always need to accompany him after school, she does it anyway.
He keeps eyeing the front door, and the shop is so slow that he decides to sit on the counter stool, still staring miserably at the window.
It’s the day after Christmas, so it makes sense that she’s probably busy, but also, she’d spent the entire previous day with him and he swears she told him that she would hang around for a bit.
He tilts his head.
Maybe she got caught in the snow. From what he can see through the foggy windows, it’s snowing heavily. There’s at least six inches of snow stacked up along the sidewalk, more where it’s been plowed to the edges of the roads, so it’s possible. Still more likely that she ghosted him, though.
He spots movement in the corner of his eye, and when he turns his head, the cat is peering at him from behind the corner of the counter. She almost appears unthreatening, which she is for the most part to everyone except him, so he lets her slowly patter closer to him. When she makes her way onto the counter and transfers onto his lap, he’s slightly convinced this is a bookstore cat imposter, but he runs her tail through his hand anyway, scratching behind Maisie’s ears.

Twenty Thousand Leauges Under the Seas
Annabeth wakes up to wet sniffling in her ear.
She sits bolt up, heart racing. She regrets it right after, wincing and cradling her throbbing head. Looking around, she takes in her surroundings. The waves had slammed her into the rocks. By all means, she should've drowned. How is she alive right now? Grover sits beside her in the sand, wagging his tail and sniffing at her apple.
The apple she had left on the rock. Turning around, Annabeth sees her hoodie folded up underneath her like a pillow, and her bag of m&m's placed carefully upright in the sand. All the blue ones are gone, she realizes with a start. There are footprints in the sand, depicting a journey out of the water and over to where she lays. Someone carried her out of the water, some stranger saved her life - but how? There was no one around when she fell in.
Annabeth follows the footprint trail with her eyes.
It leads back into the water.
