I really don't care if accessibility helps abled people. You should care about us even when there is no direct benefit to you personably.

Watched a great talk today about web/technology accessibility, and the speaker pointed out that yes, accessibility is important for people with permanent disabilities, and we should definitely care about that. But also accessibility helps EVERYBODY, because everybody will, at some point in their lives, find themselves in situations that accessible technology can help with. Here are permanent, temporary, and situational disabilities that accessible technology can help with:

Remember that whether something is disabling or not depends on the situation, the environment, the technology, etc. We’re ALL disabled at some point. It is important to support permanently disabled people, but it is also important to remember that accessibility helps us all!

stop villanizing disabled people. stop assuming we're just being lazy. stop assuming we could be trying harder. stop assuming that we'll "feel better" in a few weeks. stop assuming that we have the same energy levels as everyone else. thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Any time somebody argues that you should avoid the use of obvious pop culture references and current slang in prose fiction in order to avoid "dating" the text, I'm reminded that our primary evidence for when several of Shakespeare's plays were written is that their dialogue quotes specific pieces of contemporary popular media, and that there's strong evidence many of the words he's credited by modern authorities with inventing are literally just contemporary youth slang. Like, if it's good enough for Shakespeare it's good enough for me, buddy!

One of my favorite yuri related things is actually this Japanese article I found once that was like. Directed at younger himejoshi. So I put it through google translate because I was curious and it had a bunch of tips like "if you have a friend who is also a yuri fan... maybe you can go see a movie about girls together! But REMEMBER. Be sure to let her know in advance if you want to be 😳 more than friends 😳" and I genuinely thought it was so funny and cute that it was like "WARNING: we know manga likes to string things along but you cannot do that in real life you need to make your intentions known" LMAO

white supremacists: hi i would like to speak at your campus :)

american universities: ok

antiblack racists: we are going to protest that black lives dont matter

american universities: sounds great!

evangelicals: may i leave conversion therapy pamphlets everywhere and scream at 18 year olds in a megaphone all day

american universities: sure, heres your flyer pass!

protesters: we dont like funding a genocide

american universities: so we're going to turn campus into a fully militarized police state youre getting brutalized and expelled and going to jail now. and were going to accuse you of antisemitism for saying genocides are bad. graduation cancelled :-)

I am FINALLY done with the watcher painting!

It’s oil on canvas and i underestimated how long it would take to do, but now I’m done! I hope you all like it!

I would send it to their PO Box but it’s 40x80 cm so it might be too big
