New Fanfiction: “This Is How I Disappear”
Summary: After an international tribunal condemns nineteen-year-old Light Yagami to death, the Kira Task Force must come to terms with the fallout of the case–and with Light’s surprising last request.
AN: First off, no, I am not abandoning Noel, I’m just having very bittersweet feelings about the fact it’s coming to a close–and since for once I didn’t end a chapter on a cliffhanger, I don’t feel so bad about taking a quick break to explore something else. Once I’m done frantically prepping for ACen, I’ll get right back to working on Chapter Twelve, I promise.
This fic was inspired by the fact that, having written so much about what might have happened had Near and the SPK captured Light alive, I started to wonder how differently L and the Task Force would have handled things had Light been arrested in the first arc. Those late night musings turned into an idea for a one-shot, which then turned into “actually I have an idea for a follow-up, too,” which then turned into “oh shit this is going to be my next multi-chapter fic, what have I done.” It won’t be as long as Noel, I’m pretty sure, and I won’t come back to write Chapter Two of this until Noel finishes, but if you’re looking for more godawful, soul-crushing canon divergence feels with no overt shipping attached–now with 100% more L Lawliet–this is probably the fic you’re looking for.
(On the other hand, if you don’t like major character death in fics, this is definitely not the fic you’re looking for. Get out while you still can.)
