A Normal Human

@not-a-space-alien / not-a-space-alien.tumblr.com

The lights in the sky are nothing to concern yourself about.

Hi! All the cool kids are using pinned posts now. Here's my old about page.

  • I'm 30. This blog is mostly sfw, but does occasionally contain adult-oriented content. If you are a minor following me, I expect you to block the "nsfw" tag so these posts are blocked, and to not interact with them. This blog also will occasionally contain graphic depictions of violence and blood.
  • I’m okay with anything I post being reblogged unless it’s tagged with “please don’t reblog” or some variation thereof.
  • If you don't want me to answer an ask publicly, please say so as I will usually do so. I am also open to private DMs. Anons are usually on and usually it's fine to ask me anything as long as it's genuine/in good faith, just put warnings ahead of anything explicit, suggestive, or potentially disturbing so my followers can be warned if I answer publicly.
  • I will tag things if you ask me to, as long as it's not too difficult to do so. I already tag commonly blocked things like nsfw, gore, and blood. I have also been asked to tag spiders and trypophobia, so I will do my best to remember.
  • I usually prefer to just dump all of my interests on one blog rather than side blogs.
  • I'm a human. Read the URL.

My writing:

I write as a hobby. Most of my current writing is original works. Some of them have illustrations/visuals, but you are free to imagine the characters differently if you like. I welcome fanart, fanfiction, roleplaying asks, and collaborative worldbuilding, for anyone who feels so inclined. Just tag me so I can see! :)

Watch Your Step - Giant/tiny, a story about a fairy and his adventures. An entomologist finds an injured fairy while out in the field. [Active] (The tag for posts about this story is #Watch Your Step) (Does not require reading anything beforehand)

Magnanimous Moonrise & Savage Sunset - A story about a vampire and a vampire hunter, told from dualing perspectives. (caution: graphic) [Active] (The tag for posts about this story is #MMSS) (Does not require reading anything beforehand but related to/inspired by another series)

More info under the cut!

get okay with being some level of burden on others, seriously

you know what’s a real burden? a person that is so scared of leaning on other people that they try to be completely self sufficient and you end up either having to help them indirectly to save their ego or they have to break down in order to receive help, both of which are so much more heavy to the person that loves them than just being leaned on casually

i really feel like "left-wing" politics in the USA and maybe the world right now have gotten soooo individualistic in virtually every sense. i don't really think there IS a coherent left-wing movement in the USA or much of the world rn but to the extent there is it is subsumed entirely by individual & identity rather than the structure. "politics" is pronouns discourse on the internet. "politics" is a rainbow t-shirt bought at target. "politics" is voting third-party for your individual stance against hillary clinton's "establishment democrats" instead of making the smallest gesture to make the world less shit. "politics" is calling your incessant consumerism "self expression." "politics" is the listing all the marginalized groups you belong to before you share an opinion. "politics" is onlyfans and woke dating app ads on the subway. it's the sense of something greater than the self, larger than the self, that is completely gone.

and it's unsurprising because i think our sense of belonging to something greater or even to each other in an apolitical sense has also entirely vanished. we exist in little individual bubbles in a way that was never possible before. we spend all our time sitting here on our laptops in our apartments and bedrooms. our friendships exist over texts. our dating life exists over apps. our intellectual and cultural life exists on websites. we shop by pressing a button. we go days and days without speaking to another person, even a coworker, even a cashier. the way we interact with our communities and the people around has entirely changed. like i feel like these things have to be connected: we think and exist in terms of the individual because as far as our day-to-day life is concerned that is all our existence IS.

I love it when my creativity spurs other creativity. literally no better feeling as an artist than when someone looks at something you’ve made and goes “I saw this and liked it so much I could do nothing more with myself than turn it into drive for my own creativity” like that’s really what creativity is huh!! an instrument to further human expression and community and connection

Anonymous asked:

To be fair no cis woman thinks this hard about gender. Like if youre really questioning it this much youre probably at least nonbinary, cis women dont mind women's clothes cause it matches the gender identity

how tumblr users feel after finding out that we live in a world where women have thoughts and wear pants

This looks like a fucking parody post, or an edgy edit, but it’s 100% official real Flintstones.

Clarification: I don’t hate this book, I love it, it’s amazing. It’s just that taking a step back and looking it out of context is still really funny. Especially the line “We participated in a genocide, Barney.”

ok but imagine them in their cartoon forms saying this dialogue i’m

can we have some context to this, perhaps?

Bedrock is having a mayoral election. One of the candidates is a violent war mongering asshole that riles people up against the lizard people. This reminds Fred and Barney of their time in the army.

Back then the father of said violent candidate was riling people up against the “tree people”. Fred, Barney, and other soldiers fought what they believed to be a defensive measure against the tree people. Turns out, it was actually an invasion, in order to kill off the tree people and take over their forest to build Bedrock.

That’s what Fred means when he says he and Barney participated in a genocide. They literally did.

(Extra fun fact, Barney adopted a tree person baby after the war, and his son Bamm-Bamm is the last tree person.)

There are a lot of interesting things about this post but the AK-47 shaped spear is what really got me

This is just as wild with the context

Some of my favorite moments in the series

From the foreword to 2021 print of the comic.

i get that this is just a function of being on the media liker website where all discussions get rerouted to media liking but it is still really funny how often a post on here will be talking about some massive social issue people have been debating for literally hundreds of years and just casually drop the assertion that Fandom Has Ruined Your Morals like i really don't think the spirk fanfic is the reason people fantasise about retributive justice but alright
