I'm sick of being one of the Good Trans People™ I want to start throwing rocks at people who say that shit to me

"It's so cool how you don't make a big deal about pronouns" oh I want to kill you when you misgender me I just don't start shit because I know nobody in this room would back me up

how many times do we have to say "you will never ever be able to tell with 100% certainty who is and isn't trans in any given group of people unless they all individually want to tell you and policy based around the assumption that you can will fail terribly" before cis people start taking it seriously. just wondering

all of the following are true:

1. some trans people can and do pass very well

2. some trans people cannot or do not want to pass at all

3. pre-transition trans people who look like their AGAB exist

4. intersex people who do and don't identify as trans both exist

5. pronouns aren't an indication of gender

6. presentation isn't an indication of gender

7. gender nonconforming cis and trans people exist

8. sometimes someone's gender literally just isn't any of your business

all of these things make it impossible to definitively, 100%, with absolute certainty, tell someone's gender without them being okay with telling you.

Leslie Feinberg on trans exclusion in feminist spaces.

“We’re in danger of losing what the entire second wave of feminism, what the entire second wave of women’s liberation was built on, and that was ‘Biology is not destiny’. ‘One is not born a woman,’ Simone de Beauvoir said, ‘one becomes one’. Now there’s some place where transsexual women and other women intersect. Biological determinism has been used for centuries as a weapon against women, in order to justify a second-class and oppressed status. How on Earth, then, are you going to pick up the weapon of biological determinism and use it to liberate yourself? It’s a reactionary tool.”

From TransSisters: The Journal of Transsexual Feminism, issue 7, volume 1. 1995.

I recently looked up the name meaning for Loki’s monster sons and i always assumed they had some horrible meaning but Jörmungandr is ”huge stick” and Fenrir is ”swamp dweller”. The dork named his children ”mud puppy” and ”long boy”

I just looked both of them up and yeah Fenrir is just "Fen dweller" and Jormungandr is "Earth necklace" which is equally adorable.

What a dork I love him

Odin? Hates nazis.
Odin...Allfather...
Hates nazis, darling. He's
Disgusted by them.

  4. nazis

Odin may only have (1) good eye, but he can still see how pathetic nazis are. He hates them. All of em. Every single one. nazis, aryan shitheads, nationalists, "alt-right" douchebags, racists, and believers in "white genocide" will NEVER be welcome in heathen spaces. Heathens, Norse Pagans, and the like will fight tooth and nail to keep you away from our Gods, our traditions, our symbols, our stories, our poems, our prayers, our art, our ever growing community. Keep Odin's name out of your fascist mouths.

listen… i’m a lesbian and i know full well what oppression based on love is like… but i wish white gay folks wouldn’t act like sexuality is the only reason anyone’s ever felt that

there are people in my family who’ve been disowned because they married someone of a different colour to them… i’m mixed race and the very concept of my existence would’ve been illegal in the us when my parents were born. the supreme court only ruled against discrimination of mixed-race marriages in 1967! that’s barely 50 years ago. homophobia is an awful thing to experience and i know that from first hand experience but i’m begging you to remember that gay people aren’t the only ones being killed for who they love. please remember the struggles faced by Black and brown people when you talk about oppression. please have some solidarity with your nonwhite friends (especially your nonwhite gay friends!) when you talk about dismantling the systems that keep us alone and isolated. please remember the horrible history that is anti-miscegenation laws when you talk about equal marriage rights, because they aren’t just for white gay people.

this is okay for white people to reblog

Mixed-race marriages were still being denied in 2009. This is not ancient history. Just because it’s law, doesn’t mean bigots give up their preferences. In communities that shelter and protect bigotry, it takes a long, long time for oppressed people to get the same rights everyone else has.

!!!!!!!!

FUCK cis people being trans is not medical. there can be medical components to transitioning if you choose to go that route but being trans in itself is not inherently medical i should not have to get a fucking diagnosis of gender dysphoria to change my gender marker. actually gender markers shouldn't exist at all why the fuck does my driver's license need to have my gender on it i fucking hate it here!!!

also while we're here if cis women don't need a therapists note to get breast implants or any other type of cosmetic surgery then you shouldn't need it for top surgery either fuck you

hot take cis doctors and cis psychiatrists and cis politicians are not the fucking authority on trans people why do i need a fucking cis doctor to tell the cis government that i am my gender. i hate cis people i want out

cis people will hear a trans person say "im trans" and look to another cis person for confirmation like no fuck you <3 we are the authority on our own god damn fucking selves

cis people don't fucking comment your input is not needed or valued here <3

If you try fucking w/ gender and it just confirms that you are in fact cis, that still gives you like an upgrade because now you’re approaching your sense of self with Intent™.

What was it Dolly Parton said? “Find out who you are, then do it on purpose.”

me pre-gender crisis: pants and sneakers and solid-colored T-shirts every day, hair oscillating between “down” and “ponytail,” hating everything about myself and being a girl

me post-gender crisis: FLORAL PRINTS. BRIGHT COLORS. COMPLICATED BRAIDS. FUN KNEE SOCKS. FIFTEEN PAIRS OF COMFORTABLE YET PRETTY SHOES. I AM A PRINCESS AND THAT MEANS I CAN WEAR PEARLS WHENEVER I WANT.

xenogenders are so cool like... they're almost like metaphors. like "i have a gender and the way it makes me feel reminds me of a shining sun, so im sungender" is so? poetic? it's beautiful?

they're also like abstract art... with the way a painting can look like one thing but actually be mentally connected to something else. like a abstract painting in varying shades of blue can represent the ocean.

i honestly think xenogenders are one of the most beautiful displays of gender variance. it taps into the emotions that gender draws from, and instead of clunking into the box "male" or "female," or even man/woman, they create an entirely new, personal experience

xenogenders are the essence of gender.

anyone remember that one post about makeup where the OP was talking about how it was seen as a requirement and all these people kept adding on “well you actually only need very light makeup” and the OP had to keep saying “you are completely missing the point of this post”?

that’s how i feel on every post talking about how gender essentialism is bad and people keep tacking on stuff like “yeah it makes trans/gay men feel bad” or “it gives shitty men an excuse for their behavior”

“okay but ascribing moral worth to inherent parts of people’s identity that they cannot change is bad”

“yeah, it might make people whose identities are good get lumped in with people whose identities are bad!”

yeah but I have really low self esteem (making defending myself, or a group of people like me, harder) and am terrified of being mistaken for a right-wing asshole, so it’s easier to defend a sub-group of men than men in general

hmm, actually this is a good time to clear up a misconception: this post is not defending men, it’s arguing that “men” is not a sufficiently uniform category of person to ascribe moral qualities to. going to add a cut here since i might go a little in depth into this:

“A TERF is a white supremacist whose gateway to white supremacy is anti-trans bigotry, instead of anti-Semitism or anti-Blackness or anti-migration or misogyny. As with any gateway, many people engaging in this ideology may not be aware of their proximity to white supremacy. This is the standard radicalization pathway that we have seen over and over and over with, for example, anti-Islamic sentiment. Personally, [I] find it is most comparable to how anti-Semitism gateways are used. Often, we see white supremacists exploiting legitimate grievances with the financial systems by turning into an anti-Semitic issue. White supremacists take legitimately frustrated and class-oppressed people’s anger at banks, and carefully plant the seeds of anti-Semitism. They’ll point out the irrefutable fact that there exist Jewish people in executive positions in banking and vilely twist this. TERFs take a legitimate grievance: patriarchal oppression of women and homophobia and turn it into a movement based on systematic exclusion of a specific class of people. This is the redpill. [We] need to stop the good-faith engagements with their ideology and start treating it like the gateway to white supremacy that it is.”

I don’t think a lot of people understand that transphobia is, in fact, inherently racist.

it never would have occurred to me that transphobia has roots in racism or that TERFs are a gateway into white supremacy.

information like this is vital.

It’s inherently racist because it assumes all cultures follow the western concept of the absolute gender binary rooted in what genitals you have.

It’s also racist because it defines womanhood using conventionally attractive white women as the baseline.

Women who have facial hair, have thick or “excessive” body hair, have broad shoulders, have “masculine” facial features like angular jaws, have deep voices, are taller than “average”, have receding hairlines, are muscular, etc are immediately assumed to be men because they don’t fit white European ideals of womanhood. And these standards do affect white women of course, whether they’re cis or trans, but they mostly target Black and brown women.

There’s a reason why Black women, particularly athletes, are the ones who get targeted with so many accusations of being men. Why they’re expected to undergo hormone testing. Why they’re accused of having “excessive” testosterone. Why they’re expected to undergo physical examinations to “prove” that they’re “real” women.

Radical feminism, trans inclusive or not, is based around biological essentialist white supremacy whether radfems want to admit it or not.

A lot of TERF ideology has it’s roots in Mary Daly, who as a former theologian recognized that the Catholic Church was a corrupt institution and responded by copying its exact understanding of gender

Gyn/Ecology, which was a big inspiration for Janice Raymond and all those other ghouls, is literally just Catholic complimentarianism with a radical coating, inverting the blame that Catholicism places on women for the actions of Eve but maintaining the core Catholic teachings of static categories of gender defined by their relation to childbirth; categories which are fundamentally different, have different inherent roles, and thus require a hard border between them according to the word of God (oops, excuse me, I mean “nature”!)

all sexualities are inherently inclusive of trans and nonbinary people. its just that cis people arent inherently inclusive of trans and nonbinary people in anything

red flags in the heathen community

we all love having an online community to share our faith and practice with as well as online resources to go to however it can be hard to know if these resources are trustworthy or inclusive,,, these are some things i stay away from or are caution when i see.

1. folkish: a folkist is just a white supremacist from what i’ve seen,,, ocean keltoi and aliakai on youtube both have great videos explaining what folkism is and why it’s harmful

2. promoting stephen mcnallen: stephen mcnallen is a white supremacist that is working to “protect the white family and increase white numbers” so obviously his interpretations of the myths and gods are going to be drenched in racism and bigotry,,, he’s also the founder of the AFA or the asatru folk assembly

3. the asatru folk assembly: the asatru folk assembly is a white supremacist organization that uses norse paganism and nazi germany’s use of the gods to excuse it,,, i hope it’s clear that if someone denounces the AFA they’re most likely not going to hold any other bigoted values,, not everyone is going to talk abt it but i’d say if they’re not going to make it clear they don’t support those ‘values’ maybe be cautious of them

4. declaration 127: declaration 127 is a declaration claiming that any organization that signs is against the teachings and values of the AFA the problem lies when other pagans call it ‘controlling’ and ‘dividing’ now obviously not everyone is going to be talking abt but if you see someone talk abt it and they don’t seem to see the point i would take that as a red flag ((also you can google declaration 127 and read it for yourself as well))

who would i recommend?

i’m only going to recommend youtube channels bc that’s what i use most however all the points above could easily be applied on tumblr, insta, twitter or wherever else you go for your community

* ocean keltoi: i’ve mentioned him already and he’s amazing,, he more so talks abt being a polytheist and uses his faith as examples,, breaks down common words like frith and grith as well as having helpful videos talking abt pagan prayer and ways to practice your faith

* aliakai: she’s a hellenist but her videos are amazing as well she talks abt a number of things like current things going on in the world and in the pagan community,, explains green myths,, and has a good video on worshiping and practicing in the broom closet,,, she’s absolutely wonderful

* jackson crawford: if you’ve been in the norse pagan community for a bit you know everyone loves his videos bc they’re super informative and id also highly suggest his books the only thing i don’t like is his videos are a bit dry for my taste but if you can sit and pretty much listen to a lecture he’s a wonderful resource

* arith härger: his videos are long and informational and he has a broad variety on different aspects of history, pagan traditions, the gods etc

* scarlet ravenswood: she’s great for general pagan topics as she doesn’t just focus on heathenry which can be great if you wanna add more ideas into your practice

* chaotic witch aunt: she’s a witch so if you’re into witchcraft she’s amazing and also has some videos abt general deity work again if you wanna broaden your practice and add something new into your worship

i hope this was helpful and made navigating the online pagan community and who to stay away from easier

blessed day! 💛

Fucked around and painted an Odin from my dreams 👁

ya’ll support nonbinary people right up until they use any label other than “nonbinary” or any pronouns other than “they/them” lol

xe/xem fae/fem etc pronouns and xenogenders are not a threat or an insult to anybody, i promise.

see also: nb people are allowed to use she/her and he/him and theyre all still nonbinary and not hurting anyone

Anyway, daily reminder from a culturally isolated Romani person.

Gypsy does not mean wanderer.

It literally means ‘people from egypt’ or similar, as europeans believed Romani people were from Egypt. It has become known similar to nomad due to how our ancestors have been forced to be nomadic due to racism and ostracization, but it is a SLUR.

Romani people are STILL being forcibly sterilized.

Romani people are STILL being forced into ghettos.

Romani people are still facing violence and danger in countless European countries- and recently, I’ve seen the beginnings of the extremes in the United States.

Have a little fucking respect and DON’T USE A SLUR THAT’S BEEN USED FOR CENTURIES AGAINST US.

And for the love of whatever’s up there, ESPECIALLY do not use it to describe your witchcraft. It is playing on the ‘magic gypsy’ trope, and is EXTREMELY insulting.

non romani people, please reblog this.
