Reblogging this again to further elaborate on my thoughts. I have been thinking about this so much that I have to throw my hat into the ring. Here is why Lysandre would not rename a social media website to X but Rose would. Even though Lysandre is the Pokemon X and Y villain I don't think he'd care enough about social media or a whole website to rename it. Lysandre just wants the world to burn. If Lysandre was using social media presence at all he would just be ranting and raving about stuff on like Facebook or LinkedIn. I don't see him ever wanting to own a website unless he made a really old and shitty Geocities page to put his manifesto even though it would be 2013 and the older website makers are being faded out of existence at that point. Also imagining Lysandre posting on Facebook saying stuff like "the world.... is so impure..... what have we as humans done to it......." and then right after he posts a picture of him hanging out with Professor Sycamore is extremely funny to me. That's not Elon Musk ruining a website behavior that is a weird boomer sharing his thoughts to his 3 followers behavior.
Rose, however, is the type of guy to always be on the trend bandwagon from #FOMO. He would totally be into crypto and NFTs. He would still believe in the blockchain being the future of the internet even though YamperCoin and RotomToken turned out to be rugpulls and he got his Lazy Litleo NFTs stolen by a hacker, causing him to lose millions of dollars. He almost caused the apocalypse because of an energy crisis that wouldn't happen for 1000 years. Despite how smug he can be I don't think he would intentionally ruin a website like Elon Musk, but he does not exactly have the best track record of making good decisions. Thus I believe why he would be the one to rename the Pokemon equivalent of Twitter to X.

Listen, while I agree 100% Rose would name a site to X, however...

He is also worried about societal collapse, but instead of being practical, he goes for the most (cro)batshit insane option that will 100% inmediatley kill everybody. That does not seem to me like someone who would invest in crypto.

I associate Rose with more of a sleek, cool asthetic, think chrome, think steel, but combined with a certain fancy, luxurious feel, so more function over form, so hard agree he would rename a site to X
Lysandre would choose something more fancy, poetic and flowery, but I agree that he would have like. 2 social media acc to his name.
