My friend forgot to secure the latch on his magic card briefcase and all his commander decks are now mixed together. Now he’s playing 1200 card pickup and has to reorganize everything.

those 19th century poets weren't wrong about romanticising risking your life to go for a walk while it's storming outside. i went out to run my errands today in a skirt and long coat without an umbrella and there's something about being soaked to the bone and shaking uncontrollably while weighed down by several tons of fabric clinging to your skin tighter than a lover that makes you feel the kind of alive you normally only get from snorting coke or playing with live electrical wires.

When I was a kid, I thought those pillars went down to the sea floor.

In reality, they usually go down to some large submerged floats.

I dislike this.

Pillars and floats like that are pretty stable, compared to regular boats, so there’s even a research vessel, called FLIP, that purposefully capsizes itself to be more steady when conducting research.

The Japanese Daisugi technique for growing trees started in the 14th century and have been producing wood for 700 years without cutting down trees. Trees are pruned similar to a bonsai tree and the wood is cut as uniform, straight and without knots.

succession is a great show bc a character will say that they sent more than a few liters of their own blood to someone and it's not even like in the top 3 important things that happened in the episode

WAIT ONE LAST POST. the fucking. tentative, frightened, grief-striken, and yet so, so, so palpable first whispers of relief when shiv says "well he can't get mad if we don't" the genuineness in her smile despite all the sorrow. the shiv sandwich hug. they are free ! they are free ! i hope nothing haunting happens to the narrative

A lot of how they did it IS like wow that’s how death is, it’s sudden and banal and you don’t get to control it even if you are rich and powerful. But then the other part of that was so good is that they really made you feel the sudden absence of Logan. He was this huge presence who filled up the screen and then the moment he dies he’s gone. We don’t see him. It’s like this sudden vacuum. For a split second when tom first called I was like “wait is it a joke? Is Logan pranking them?” And it’s like SO GOOD that they were able to make us feel exactly like the siblings it’s so good

before the Big Bang, there was no up there was no down there was no side to side.

There was no up there was no down there was no side to side, there was no light, there was no dark, no shape of any kind. There were no stars or planet Mars or protons to collide, there was no up there was no down there was no side to side. And furthermore, to underscore this total lacking state, there was no here there was no there because there was no space. And in this endless void, which can’t be thought of as a place, there was no time and so no passing minutes, hours days. Of all the paradoxes that belabor common sense, I think this one’s the greatest this time before events, because how did we get from nothing to infinitely dense from immeasurably small to inconceivably immense. But before we get unmoored from the question at the start, let’s take a breath and marvel at when math becomes an art because we don’t have to understand it to know there was a time when there was no up there was no down. There was no side to side
