Am I the asshole for checking on an injured friend?

A week ago, I finished a project on which I collaborated with several other individuals. We formed bonds over the course of working on the project together, but social, political, and geographic circumstances separated us after the project ended.

Yesterday, I learned that one of my friends from the project, S, had been injured by a dog. I was concerned and wanted to know if she was okay, especially since another friend of ours had died while we were working on the project together. I convinced my sister to sneak out of our home with me at night to go visit S and check on her. We snuck into S's home, where she lives with several others, including W, another friend from the project, to try to see if she was okay. But when we got there, S seemed upset that we had snuck into her home and asked if I had been spying on her (I hadn't been, I'd just...heard things without meaning to).

While she was talking to us, her co-residents woke up, and they were also mad at us for sneaking into their home in the middle of the night. W told me I needed to learn to respect boundaries, and W's daughter brought my sister and I home, where our great-great-uncle was told about our late-night wanderings and intrusion into the home of others. Now we're grounded for a week!

i can never write a soulmates au cause i very quickly stop thinking about romance and start thinking about the sociological implications of a world where soulmates are a confirmed verifiable thing

is casual dating a thing in a world where everyone has a soulmate out there somewhere? is it frowned upon? is there a movement of people fighting for the idea that you don't HAVE to wait for your soulmate to find true love? is it considered queer to be in a non-soulbound relationship? how does polyamory function? how about aromantic people?

is it guarenteed you'll find your soulmate within your lifespan? are you drawn to find eachother even if you're born a million miles apart? if it's the kind of universe with physical soul marks (ie. matching moles, first words on skin), are there medical options to change or remove your mark? would it be considered a tabboo? could someone fake a soul mark? could you catfish someone by pretending to match them? isn't there some kind of inherent horror in knowing destiny has entwined you with a stranger?
