sometimes I look at the 'Official Grown Up'™ art and it looks like Sokka and Zuko are geared up to go on another life changing field trip together haaaa

imagine you are fifteen years old taking your little sister to the grocery store because your dad is busy and your grandmother is old and you need food. as you turn a corner you accidentally ram your shopping cart into God with a capital G and he promises to show you the world you’ve never seen from inside the ten square miles of your hometown in exchange for your company. you hate the risk but your demigod sister has untapped potential and an unrelenting determination to get ghost, so you follow God with a capital G through heaven and hell and back. God with a capital G is twelve and wiser than even your grandmother and treats everything like a game and he’s your brother now and suddenly you would (and have and will) kill and die for him. your first love becomes a different god and you add her name to the list of things (your childhood, your vulnerability, your parents, your safety) you don’t have the time to grieve right now (or ever) and you become a man on foreign soil and your dad isn’t there to see it. you are fifteen and God with a capital G’s best friend and your little sister– sisters, now– are the most powerful demigods on the planet and you are the only one keeping three divine tweens focused on saving the world and you are still not allowed to say fuck.

I thought this was the strangest short fiction I’d ever read until I checked the tags. Yeah, I guess ATLA is kinda crazy isn’t it

At Zuko and Sokka’s wedding, Katara should tell the story of the time Aang was like “Maybe we shouldn’t leave Zuko to freeze to death in this blizzard” and Sokka was like ‘‘No, fuck that guy”

if you think fire lord zuko is straight then grow up!!!!!

do u think katara and sokka ever coordinate their little outfits. like what if one day katara wants to try out a darker shade of blue bc she thinks she’d look cute in navy but sokka’s like “no katara we talked about this. I always wear the darker outfit no matter what to represent that I am the more cynical and jaded sibling and you wear the lighter shade of blue because your heart is pure and full of light. god katara it’s like you don’t even understand basic color symbolism. smh katara 🙄🙄”

they actually don't even try like it just happens for them. if katara decided one day to wear navy blue the forces of the universe would converge upon sokka in something he would interpret as his own instincts and he would find himself purchasing something in midnight blue to accommodate katara without even knowing it.

who wants to be my thematically fated narrative foil bestie who I initially think is my total opposite but thru a journey in which we undergo mutual catharsis I come to realize is actually the exact same as me and thus sees and understands me on a fundamental level and also we wear cute little matching outfits

obviously sokka is like, the platonic ideal of an Older Brother. and katara and azula are both suuuch Little Sisters. and it’s clear that toph and aang are both Only Children. but zuko.... does not have older brother energy. at all. so I think that means that lu ten, at some point, must’ve been around a lot, and was the older brother figure that both zuko and azula looked up to. and that’s why zuko is, in fact, the ultimate Middle Child.

I was thinking the other day about how Zuko doesn't feel like an Older Brother.

Now I get it. Lu Ten is the key.
