SHES BACK
shrimp are referred to as an abomination four times more than homosexuality is in the bible
manuela jsyk there are lots of actual people who follow (say) the shrimp related laws from the torah, and posts that use seemingly outlandish or bizarre laws from the ‘old testament’ (the torah) as an example of how absurd it is for christians to use the bible to justify their homophobia are throwing jews completely under the bus, mocking our history,
making our oldest (and completely harmless wtf no one is oppressed by some people not personally partaking of shrimp) laws & traditions (which not all of us follow, but many do!) seem obsolete, outdated, and ridiculous,
when they’re very significant to a lot of us and have always been something we’ve had to struggle to justify (in the face of oppressive groups such as, like, christians). posts like this are uh. just total dick moves. antisemitic microaggressions. not very good.
nobody has to kick jews in the shins to explain why religiously inspired homophobia of christians is disgusting. im not like, angry with you, but friends don’t let friends reblog microaggressions couched in humor.

using a teen girl’s suicide as some symbolic victory of a bill passing through congress is amazingly disgusting
I agree but just want to emphasize that there is literally no bill to speak of, there is no legislation, nothing was passed. The only thing that happened was Obama said “conversion therapy is bad.” He is NOT taking steps to ban it at the federal level, he is advocating for states to ban it, meaning that it will probably be a long time before we see any meaningful change
I know your hearts are in the right place but saying that Leelah Alcorn “did it” in regards to getting conversion therapy most likely made illegal and having the law named after her….. is really making me uncomfortable honestly
Leelah didn’t “do” anything but be horribly abused by her parents who were able to use conversion therapy as an aid to abuse her, which resulted in her suicide. It’s called Leelah’s Law because a teenage girl had to die for people to realize how fucked up conversion therapy is. She didn’t “do” something her death wasn’t some heroic sacrifice or something it was the result of a transphobic society that told her transphobic parents that their transphobia was okay.
She killed herself the idea that she “did” this is implying that she had to die for conversion therapy to even be considered a bad thing and it’s glorifying suicide which you all should know by now is a huge way to make others suicidal as it encourages suicidal thoughts like. Please stop this. She didn’t die for a cause she killed herself due to transphobia. She was a young girl and she had her entire life ahead of her and she truly did not feel like she could go on any longer because of the invalidation and abuse she suffered.
Leelah’s Law being considered does not justify Leelah’s death or in any way mean that her death was necessary for the greater good. Leelah deserved better, as does every other trans child who’s suffered and/or lost their lives under abusive parents.

inquisitor lavellan wearing real shoes for the first time like
she/her/hers are pronouns. they are not female pronouns. nonbinary people use she/her/hers.
he/him/his are pronouns. they are not male pronouns. nonbinary people use he/him/his.
stop assuming that everyone around you is a binary gender, it’s not helping
