Thoughts on being able to upload and use custom emojis on posts?

Especially given that tumblr has a reputation of being a kooky blog site.

Answer: Hi, @cyphyree!

Yes! We very much want this, too. You're absolutely right, after all—Tumblr is the kooky blog site, and we are exploring similar ideas in @labs as we speak. So stay tuned to that blog for more info, and fingers crossed.

check out the screenshot here:

we're starting with regular emoji reactions, but custom reactions is very much what we want to eventually expand it to.

Everyone, I am so happy to see Adriana Varejão in my dash??

She is a brazilian sculptor and artist who is probably one of the best creators of gore in formal art I've ever seen. Here's some more of her work.

She loves exploring portuguese tiling, and her work includes eras that are solely focused on tiles.

She has also went through phases where she explored cracks in ink and in tiling

And of course that evolved into bloody cracks and slashes on tiles, like the walls are living beings

Which then became her iconic meat walls, but I also love her pool paintings, it's a completely different kind of unsettling more akin to liminal spaces

I can't add more images because tumblr sucks but ADRIANA VAREJÃO. Pride of my fucking country I tell you

Bisan's back is injured. As someone who's had multiple lower back injuries and uses a cane now because of those injuries I know exactly how excruciating it is. It's a level of constant pain that most people can't even imagine. It wears away at you making it hard to think or even breathe sometimes. I cannot imagine enduring that level of pain while also being bombed and displaced.

Bisan has been sleeping on the ground for months now, running from attacks and still trying to report on what's happening in Gaza. There is no way for her to rest and recover from a back injury let alone get medical care.

i just found out that i got a 4 (out of 10) in a seminar, and that's half of my grade in the class. i'm feeling so discouraged rn cause the seminar was supposed to be presented by a trio, and the 2 other people in my group dropped out of the class without telling me. i found out last minute that i was gonna have to do it by myself, and i asked the tutors if i could be moved to another group, and they said no but that they'd take into consideration the situation when grading me. i thought i'd get at least half of the grade :(

whelp i requested a revision of my grade. in a few days we'll see if i'll come back here crying again cause the professor is evil and was like 'lol no you still got a 4' or if i'm gonna get at least a fucking 5

idk if the professor changed my seminar grade or if i just did well in the exam (the other half of my grade) but i did pass the class so i'll take this w

Bear in mind that this is a technique that anyone can use on anyone about anything.

For example, you probably want to be suspicious when megacorporations start rebranding themselves as "diverse" and "sustainable".

When Palestinian’s say “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” they are not calling for the ethnic cleansing of Israeli Jews/all Jewish people entirely. They are just asking for decolonisation.

Between the river (the Jordan River) and the sea (the Mediterranean Sea) lies Palestine, which has been occupied by Israel for the past 75 years. When they say Palestine will be free, they mean exactly that- for decolonisation; to end the illegal occupation of land that was theirs first.

I don’t know where the idea that this motto means genocide or is a “rallying cry for terrorists” came from, but all sources I have seen that spread this message are all pro-Israel and have unreliable propaganda filled articles. There is one article specifically that says that the Palestine flag emoji is used as shorthand for this phrase, and using it is antisemitic.

I hope people keep using this motto, keep chanting it at protests, and know that it does not making them antisemitic, pro-genocide, or an ignorant person. For it to not be obvious at this point that no Palestinian wants an ethnic cleansing of any kind, is shocking.

decolonizepalestine has an amazing article with more details about the history of the phrase and the myths surrounding it.
