the human experience is full of heartache and pain. A constant journey of self discovery and development through your shared experiences with others around you. You never truly know one another, and that in itself can make life feel risky. Who do you trust? Who is honest and open? Who is not? Who cares? Who doesn’t? Who is sincere? Who is not? A million questions, a million potential outcomes, yet only one brief lifetime to understand but a few. It’s easy to get into a mind frame of self protection, and even tho’ this is needed sometimes to actually protect yourself from potentially unsafe situations, many times it also leads to missing out on who and what really matters in your life. For me, the only way to live is to put your heart out there and understand that nobody is going to be perfect for us or to us. That yes, it is risky to live and love, but also so worth it. That no matter where life wants to take you, believing your best days are ahead of you is the very first step to allowing such a life to manifest. ~ Inder http://ift.tt/2qZvbCe

Just doing what i was told
Did I ever tell you guys the story of how I got a letter from President Obama on my 13th birthday?
No, please share
Okay, so when Jewish boys/girls turn thirteen, they have a ceremony called a bar/bat mitzvah. It’s a way to symbolize that we have become a young man/young woman, and it’s a big rite of passage for us.
At the time of my bat mitzvah, my uncle, who serves in the navy, had a job at the white house (one time he gave me and my family a tour, but that’s a story for another day). So, he worked at the white house, and it’s not like he was hanging out with the president all the time or anything spectacular, but he did know my uncle by his first name, so that was cool and important.
Anyways, a little while after my bat mitzvah and my 13th birthday, I received this in the mail:
At first I was already like, “whaaa??” My parents didn’t seem to know what it was about either. So I opened it, and, lo and behold:
along with:
So…yeah. My uncle was able to get the former president of the united states to send me a letter congratulating me on my bat mitzvah when I turned 13. Hope you enjoyed my story!
This is officially the Lucky Obama Birthday post, reblog and you’ll get a special present on your next birthday
How To: Getting The Most Out Of Lectures
Lectures can be really difficult to adapt to. They’re completely different from anything in school, you have over an hour of solid learning and you’re left to completely fend for yourself. You don’t have to take notes if you don’t want to, or alternatively, you can try and write down every word the professor says. Both of which are probably not good ideas. You see a wide range of students in lecture theatres, all doing different things and engaging in different ways. Because nobody really helps you adapt to this new style of learning and students often find it difficult, I put together some tips for getting the most out of your lectures. I hope this helps!
Find a good spot The place you sit and the people you sit with in lectures makes all the difference. If you’re sitting on the back row, you’re more tempted to scroll through your phone and not really pay attention to anything that the lecturer’s saying. People usually sit on the back row because they can get away with not paying attention, and if no one around you is paying attention, chances are you won’t either. Sit nearer the front in view of the lecturer, so you’ll feel less tempted to do things you shouldn’t.
Lecture recordings Thankfully, my college records all lectures and puts them online, but I know this isn’t always the case. Recording your own lectures and listening to recordings means if you don’t understand something in the lecture, you can always go back to it and listen as many times as you want. It’s also a useful revision tool to listen back over your lectures because sometimes your notes don’t make as much sense as they did at the time.
Don’t write down everything the lecturer’s saying I see this a lot, students scramble to write down everything on the lecture slides and everything the lecturer’s saying at the same time and they inevitably get confused. Don’t write what’s on the lecture slides if they’re available to you because you already have access to these notes. Listen to key concepts, explanations or information directly linked to the learning objectives (if available) and sort through your notes and lecture slides after the lecture.
Review This is the most important tip I can give to anyone - review! I find it really useful to read through the lecture slides or the readings either the day before, or the day of, my lecture because it’s hard to write down notes and process new concepts at the same time. Reviewing before the lecture means you have a general idea of what’s going on before the lecture starts so the concepts aren’t completely foreign to you. I write lecture notes before the lecture and add to them anything that the lecturer says that isn’t on the slides. This can be quite time consuming but it means I spend more time listening than aimlessly writing. Just generally skim reading before the lecture is enough to help you process information in the lecture.

If you need notes to remember to LISTEN at a staged listening video/photo op with supporters, students and families of school shootings… Then you have more problems than we thought.
Oh

God
@sale-aholic this is very sad. Notes to show empathy like truly what kind of stupidity is this. He doesn’t even have it n him to show any type of real emotion. He is the fucking devil
What an idiot. Donald Trump is not human. He has no fucking empathy for other human beings. This son of a bitch even suggested that teachers should be armed in classrooms. Are you kidding me? Un-fucking-believable!
So many teachers are angry about that @sbrown82 . They barely have enough school supplies ( that the teachers have to pay for the students to use) and definitely do not make enough money to carry and patrol classrooms. What type of person cares this much about guns over the safety of children? Insane.
Notes:
“ What would you most want me to know about your experience?”
“What can we do to help you feel better?)
5. I hear you.
( you needed notes for that?)

Hello everyone, long time no see! I just got back from a trip to visit a family friend, who also happens to be a super-smart lawyer. We talked non-stop for an hour about how she studied during law school! So naturally here I am to regurgitate the information to my lovely tumblr friends:
- Take your class notes. Re-read them, and then start to revise and rewrite them. If you had 100 pages of notes before, your second set of notes should be 50 pages. You are essentially taking notes from your notes.
- Do this again, cutting the notes in half. I know this seems repetitive, but you’re retaining information by rewriting and summarizing it. The more you do it, the better you’ll do later.
- Continue to rewrite and summarize your notes until you have a one page outline. This outline is your life-saver on tests. (It’d also be handy to keep all of the outlines you accumulate for your final)
- Memorize the outline! When you sit down to take a test, the first thing you should do is flip to a blank page and copy down your outline from memory. Because you rewrote it over and over, you should be able to fill in the gaps in the outline, which will help immensely on the test.
That’s the gist of it! If you have any questions/comments feel free to message or send an ask. (Personally I love this method and I’m definitely using it next school year!)
Sorry for my inactivity, I’ve been busy with college orientations and activities! Anyways, here’s a detailed infographic about my study habits, as requested by an anon. Please take note that these habits are effective for me, but may not be effective for you. Do not feel pressured to adapt these because there is no single “right” way to study! I encourage you to find out the best study habits for YOU.
