What if the dark masters and Myotismon were the original digidestined digimon?
So this is a AU/headcanon idea I had for a while, because in the original show (at least the Dub) Gennai mentions the original digidestined not Tai and the others but ones before them.
(I always thought that the subway car and stuff like the vending machines and phones were all pulled through with the original digidestined)
What if the dark masters were those digidestined partners but they couldn’t beat Apocalypsemon, their digimon became corrupted and the digidestined either 1) were forced out of the digital world with their digivices broken and no way to return and help or 2) the extra angsty option killed by Apocalypsemon.
So the dark masters and Myotismon are corrupted and can’t even remember their partners… but
MetalSeadramon remembers that power and strength is all that matter, he doesn’t remember the quite shy child who he taught to stand up for themselves and who he scarified himself to protect.
Machinedramon remembers strategies and winning at any cost, he doesn’t remember the child who he played games with and taught him all the strategies they knew, the one he came up with new strategies with to try and save the world.
Puppetmon remembers he did have a friend and he wants to play with someone, he doesn’t remember the neglected child who was so happy to be able to play with someone and promised they’d be best friends forever.
Piedmon remembers performance and the joy of the fighting, he doesn’t remember, the child who loved performing like him who he encouraged to follow their dreams, the partner he fought with and for.
Myotismon remembers blue eyes always so strong and determined and filled with life, and when a Salamon later Gatomon looks at him with eyes so similar his head hurts and he hates those eyes, doesn’t remember who those eyes belonged to his partner.(I feel that even if the other digidestined did survive Myotismon partner is most likely dead)
So yeah I do have some idea for what reunions would be like between them (both for it they died or if they survived) on more on my idea for the characters of the original digidestined, so if people are interested let me know and I’ll post more, apologises for all the angst.

-All Worthless Trinkets: Vaguely interesting garbage, vendor trash and junk loot. Not magical or mysterious like regular trinkets or worth anything more than a copper piece or two even if you could find someone to buy it in the first place.
-All Mottos: Whether they’re called adages, maxims or creeds, these simple statements are essentially promises made to oneself, family, or institution. A character’s motto can be a goal in itself or a moral anchor that centers his life and guides his action. A mixed collection of real life and fictional mottos that can aid a DM to quickly expand the history of the campaign or to aid a PC in a richer character creation.
-Battle Cries: Simplistic and bone chilling warcries, complex and inspiring calls to arms and primal wordless screams of rage that shakes the enemy down to their iron-shod boots.
