“Courage dear heart” -C.S.Lewis.

Norwegian|Hufflepuff| My name is Ingrid if you where wondering | this blog is kind of random at this point

All of these books are queer, but they all have back blurbs that don’t say they’re queer. While this can be a pain if I’m scouting for queer SFF, it can come in handy for people in a situation where they don’t want to be reading queer books openly.

Please do note that I don’t have hard copies of the books on hand so it’s possible that an author quote or something mentions one being queer (I feel like this isn’t super likely, but I don’t want to rule it out). Some might also have author biographies mentioning that the author is queer. Also, some may be shelved as LGBT on Goodreads or categorized as queer on Amazon. So if you’re planning on asking for any of these as holiday gifts, I would suggest going to the Amazon page or where ever your relative is likely to buy it from and double check that it’s something you’d be comfortable with sharing openly.

I wish I had more pansexual books, but the ones I know of tend to mention queerness in the back description.

With the exception of The Spy with the Red Balloon, these are all books I have read or are currently reading. If you want to recommend others, feel free to do so in the replies!

Links to the queer books database (or Goodreads if the book hasn’t been added yet) are available below the cut. You can find information on content warnings there.

I hope things get better for you. You deserve to continue to live and see how beautiful things can come out of the worst situations. I hope that you can step back and watch the world from somewhere far away from the midst of the noise and see the trees and the skies and a city from a distant point of view. I hope you find spark of inspiration from a movie or a quote or a song that brings you hope in humanity. I hope you take a break and remember what matters, and forget thoughts that paralyze you like why you don’t measure up to someone, or the thought that things will never get better for you. Because those thoughts may feel very real and based on facts when nothing could be more wrong and senseless, and I hope that your life is an endless pattern of realizing that those thoughts are never true like they feel in the moment. I hope one day you can life in a warm house that you decorated nicely with your favorite plants, books, blankets and colors. I hope you continually find joy in reinventing yourself and learning new things because sometimes happiness is found in the journey and in the simplest achievements. I hope that a hopeful, kind voice rises in you that can take on the bully in your head that can grow strong enough to be the only thing you hear. I hope you reach a part of your life where you can look back and be glad that you stayed alive when it was the hardest thing to do. You don’t need to know the answers, you don’t need to know how to make it better, and sometimes you just need to wait for the storm to pass and just do the best you can while it lasts. It’s ok to ask for help and it’s ok to feel everything to the fullest, just take care not to live there because it’s a space to reflect and grow, not to live forever. You deserve to see what’s on the other side of this, and I hope you stay alive to see it.

June is coming to an end and, with it, Pride Month as well. I hope you had a good time, if you attended any events and that you’re all safe.

Remember to be proud of who you are, who you’re working on becoming and whoever you love whether you’re out to a handful of people, the whole world or still not ready for any of that. Your own comfort and safety and well being come first but it’s important to always always remember that you are valid and loved, in June and every other day.

It’s not always easy -scratch that, it hardly ever is- but we only have one chance at life and we deserve to experience it at its fullest. so, I’m here -this random tumblr user- to remind us all, once again, that is important to be honest with ourselves about who we are and how we feel, regardless of whether we’re ready to share it with people or not, in any capacity. self-acceptance is one of the biggest steps you’ll ever take and, trust me, it’ll be nice on the other side.

and yes, this is a Gilmore Girls themed blog, first and foremost, but this blog is also run by a young woman who’s had to go through a lot before coming to a point in which she’s finally free to be the girl she is and it’s worth dedicating a post to this topic. so, yeah, this is a moodboards/GG blog but I’ll always be here to listen and support any of you, if needed. just come talk to me :)

“life is too short and, we should be who we are and, we should kiss the girls people that we wanna kiss”

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH 🏳️‍🌈

Reblog if its okay to message you on anon until I am comfortable enough to reveal myself to you

I don’t really have followers but of course

The 5 things you gotta know before you let that cop into your house

THIS STUFF IS SOOO IMPORTANT TO KNOW.  Seriously.  It’s saved my ass before.

What do you do when you look through the peephole and see a badge?

  1. Remember: You do not have to let the police in the house unless they have a warrant — or probable cause. If you’re having a party, turn off the music, ask your guests to chill, and ask that anyone who’s too intoxicated carry on in another room.
  2. Go outside to speak with the cops. Close the door behind you. Although some scary precedents are being set these days, police cannot enter your home without a warrant or probable cause. By closing the door, you’re cutting off a visual — or olfactory — line to potential probable cause.
  3. Be polite. Ask why they are there. “Good evening, Officer. What can I help you with?”
  4. Where possible, assure them you will take care of the problem. If the police ask to enter, inform them, “I do not consent to any searches.” If a police officer gives you an order and you are confused about your position, ask, “Do I have to comply?” If they continue with questioning, tell them you’ll need to call your lawyer and that you will not answer any questions.
  5. Ask, “Am I free to leave?” This is especially handy if, say, a group of you’d been too bawdy on the patio and an officer stops by. If he/she is getting a bit hot under the collar, politely ask, “Am I being detained?” or “Am I free to leave?” If the cop has no reason to hold you, quickly, quietly, and politely retreat inside.

The POC’s Bill of Rights when it comes to the Police. Remember. These are your rights.

This is what it’s like to have dyslexia. Web developer Victor Widell is hoping to shine a light on the learning disorder with this creative coding simulation.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what it looks like for me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So accurate !!!!!!

This! It can be so hard for people to get it. I’ve been told “you can’t have a disability” because I did well in school or because I have a law degree, because I scored high on the LSAT (which was despite not being able to finish it). Learning disabilities don’t = stupid, it’s just slower and more difficult to read/spell.

Oh wow

I think every single person without dyslexia should see this
