Folks, I am asking for your help. Our 12yo brought something to our attention last night. A boy in her class has been texting girls in the school for inappropriate photos and wanted to know what she should do about it. Beyond our explanation of what is right and what is not for kids, we also explained to her that once that image is sent it can't be reeled back in. And once it is on the innerwebs it's in an uncontrollable freefall forever. As an experiment for her to follow, I'm asking you all to spread this post far and wide so she can understand just how out of control these situations can be and how fact it can spin pout of control. So much pressure can be put on our young by outside forces to send such images, we have to make sure they know they have recourse.

The tolling for kid images, as if that wasn't bad enough, has turned into sextortion a term I didn't even know about until about 6 months ago and kids are killing themselves over it. As I have told both my kids, should they find themselves in this kind of situation let us know. I will gladly serve my time with a smile on my face knowing some POS is off the streets to never do this shit again.

I don't remember where I got this but it's just as true as it was then. "So there you are sitting on your front porch with a cold longneck when the local PD rolls up in your yard. Then another parks out by the street. Three officers approach you on your front porch and inform you that there has been a report you are drinking.

“Well, sure I am!” you say, “It’s Friday night and I plan to have another.”

“We need your car keys sir,” the young officer says. “What for?” you inquire.

His reply shocks you…“We have to take your car to keep you from hurting someone!”

“How am I going to hurt someone sitting on my porch with a beer?”

“Well your neighbor says you were threatening a trip to the beach this weekend and you’ve been accused of drinking, so we have to take your car!”

“But I’m not driving now!”

“Sir, it remains that you have threatened to drive and you are drinking, so we must take possession of your vehicle. You may come to the courthouse Monday for a hearing to determine when, and if, you may get your car back.”

This is the same as a red flag gun (ERPO) law!

Having your property (no matter what it is) seized because someone says you “MIGHT POSSIBLY do something” is a violation of the 4th amendment!

There is NO due process!

There is NO facing your accuser!

You’re gonna miss those freedoms when they’re gone!

Fight for them before they are!"

children are being exposed to so much sexualization and sexualized content nowadays that even elementary students are frightening their teachers with the stuff they're saying even if they don't understand what it means. just the amount of misogyny and porn rot that has trickled down to literal children being exposed to it constantly and thinking its just hilarious and funny is terrifying.

a few years ago, i was student interning in a 5th grade class and they had laptops out that day. i heard a boy who kept telling others to google blue waffle. that was a thing when i was in middle school, 10 years ago. i was so surprised to hear kids talking about it still today.

and a few more years before that, i was at the local carnival with my two nephews, who were 7 and 8 at the time. we were in line and they gave us a number. the 8 year old asked me what the number was, and then the 7 year old said: “it would be funnier if the number was 69”. i started asking him why he said that, if he knew what it meant, and eventually told my brother what he said and got a phone call on speaker later that night when he tried to lie about it. it scared me that at 7 he could be talking about sex, he could be watching porn.

Oh my wife literally has elementary school boys (and not just the 5th graders, like the kindergartners, too) moaning sexually at her and the other students. Either they're actually watching porn, or our society is so disgustingly porn-rotted that these literal children are hearing pornographic women's moans in non-porn context, enough that MANY OF THEM enjoy repeating it in class, and both options make me nauseous. And either way, they're doing it because they like making the women and girls in the room uncomfortable. Even if they don't know what it is, the little girls don't like it. It's sexual harassment, coming from BABIES.

OR, just a thought here, they’re “literal children” and they’re doing things that make “literal adults” panic and act like this. Instead of, I don’t know, looking them in the eyes like they’re human and saying “We don’t do that, it’s inappropriate.” 🤷‍♂️

A lesson that we can’t afford not to be taught.

let’s spread this again and again and again
