I set these two as twins but Ismene is abt an hour and a half older than Antigone. Some major differences:
quick antigone + ismene doodle (probably set a day or two after their brothers' deaths) putting all the extra text under the cut so i can ramble also
support group for ppl who used to be the same age as their favourite character but then got older
i think beyond normal sex-negativity literally everything trans women do is seen as disgusting and perverted. from innocent stuff like feeling good in the clothes you wear, to even vanilla and basic sexual stuff
like something crucial about mousegirlgate was that it was literally a pun. sex-negativity is awful but like, it was a joke which was so innocuous and non-sexual that the backlash was completely ludicrous
transfem ant who no longer floats in water
no longer boy ant
I will not be spoiling the plot or anything happening in it, but it is important that people know, because ohhh my god the AMOUNT of flashing lights and rapidly changing colors from beginning to end was so rampant that even I, a non-epileptic autistic person, got a severe headache and wild overstimulation. They do not give a warning in theaters at all that this movie is NOT epileptic friendly from the literal beginning with the beginning credits - which is so, so sad!
This is a beautifully made film, it's wonderful, it's amazing, but unfortunately, it's not a good time for anyone super affected by bright flashing lights in rapid succession, especially those seizure prone.
I wanted to put this out there BECAUSE there are no theater warnings. Idk if anyone else has put it out there, but it is SUPER IMPORTANT!!!
I wish you all a lovely day and hope they eventually have a remaster that will be much more friendly to epileptic and other people affected by bright, flashing lights.
[plaintext: Do NOT see the new Spiderverse movie if you have any form of epileptic condition or conditions affected by bright lights and rapidly changing colors. /end plaintext]

If you are thinking about it on paper, the bus running every half hour doesn't sound so bad, until you're waiting at the stop and you miss a bus or it's delayed. Then you're waiting a very, very long time. To people who never take transit, that's probably fine. Why do you care. To people who only take transit, they're expecting it, it's baked in their lives. But the important part, what really impacts our cities, is what happens to people for whom transit is an option.
The spiral goes like this. You go to take the bus instead of driving, thinking "I'm going to o have a couple drinks" or "I don't want to worry about parking where I'm going." So you take bus. First bus is right on time. But then you transfer from your neighborhood line to the line that takes you where you actually want to go. And your bus is delayed. And it only comes every 30 minutes. And then you're waiting, 40 minutes later, wondering where your bus is, knowing you could have driven there in 20 minutes.
Why would you ever chose to take a bus again? The bus made you waste precious time on your day off just sitting there. So next time you drive. Ridership goes down. When the transit authority asks for more money for more buses and more drivers, people point to the ridership numbers and say "why should we pay for this instead of paying for our schools/police/baseball stadium/parks/police again (let's be real that's who's taking all the money)?" If we want to increase ridership we need to actually design and fund functional transit networks. If we want people to actually ride the bus we need to make it a better option than driving, which means reliable service, which you don't get with a bus every 30 minutes.
Every 15 minutes, everywhere, all of the time.
has anyone payed attention to the stuff going down in ethiopia or are we just Miscellaneous Blacks to yall
earlier today (june 2) addis ababa police killed three muslims after friday prayer as retaliation from the protests of last week. the protesters were speaking out against the demolition of over a dozen mosques for (what every sane person knows is) our prime minister's new city—sheger city—made only for people of oromia decent at the expense of literally everyone else.
ethiopians of every ethnicity (except oromia bc this government benefits only them) are protesting this city. this is not the first time the ethiopian government, specifically our [redacted] of a prime minister, has intervened in religious affairs. earlier this year, he tried to intervene in the ethiopian orthodox church. fortunately those efforts have seemingly paused (for now).
as of today (june 4) the number of demolished mosques has risen to 22. there is a complete news blackout, people are still being arrested or killed by police for protesting. my mom's been calling family to get updates but there isn't much information at the moment.
