A legendary demon cat is said to haunt the Capitol Building in Washington, DC. The cat allegedly appears before major tragedies and was reportedly seen by White House guards shortly before both JFK and Abe Lincoln were assassinated. Though the cat hasn’t been seen in years, some say a set of paw prints in the floor by the Old Supreme Court Chamber are proof of its existence. Source Source 2

“The President in not a huge fan of me, but this is so ok, and Donald, if you didn’t like me then, you’re really probably not gonna like me now. Cause i’m hosting SNL, and I’m like so gay, dude.” - Kristen Stewart on SNL

I’m totally getting a tshirt with ‘like I’m so gay, dude’ on it

Iconic though

“I’m no longer accepting the things I cannot change…I’m changing the things I cannot accept.”

-Angela Davis

All month long, in honor of Black History Month, we will be highlighting influential queer and trans black activists—and taking the opportunity to educate ourselves further in the process.

Angela Davis is a queer black woman who became an activist in the 1960s during the Civil Rights Movement as a member of the Communist Party USA and Black Panther Party. She is a radical activist: The term “radical” means, according to Angela Davis, “grasping things at the root.” Her life’s work has become speaking out against white supremacy, sexism, and imperialism around the world, as well as advocating for the dismantling the prison-industrial complex (arguing that our prison system is more of an extension of slavery rather than any kind of “justice” system). She came out as a lesbian in 1997 in Out Magazine.

Angela Davis is now 73 years old & still kicking ass out in the streets. She has been speaking out against the current President’s administration and joined millions of people during the National Women’s March on Washington (and gave this empowering speech while there).

Today is the Day Trump became our president. Earlier last year I was asked to be featured and write “Why I think America is already Great”

“ We are a country founded on people who come different ethnicities and backgrounds. Because of our differences, we have been able to accept people and welcome change. The progression that this country has shown in the past 50 years, 20 years, 10 years is truly incredible. Now it’s common that people of different races and religions can get married. Same goes for same sex couples like myself. What used to be taboo is now a norm. Yes, we have a long way to go still, but the world is changing for the better. It’s amazing to see and be a part of, and that is what makes America great! ” -Alyssa San Francisco 📷 @caydiemccumber #wmaga

People used to wear powdered wigs because of syphilis. An epidemic of the STD swept Europe in the mid- 1500s and left thousands of people bald, so they designed huge wigs to hide their heads, distract from facial sores, and mask odors with scented powders. The wigs were seen as a necessity until King Louis XIV started going bald at 17 and made them a fashion trend. Source
