nani was NINETEEN and such a fucking badass who was so protective of lilo and just ROLLED with aliens being a thing towards the end of the movie. #1 Disney relative of all time.

I have honestly been waiting AGES for the right gifset to express the wonderful perfection that is Nani. She is not only protective of Lilo, she respects the way Lilo’s imagination and quirkiness works.

Pudge the fish got a peanut butter sandwich every Thursday. Nani does not argue the logic of feeding him, only suggests an alternative sandwich when they are out of peanut butter. Lilo was allowed to take as many photos of whatever mundane or odd subjects as she wanted and Nani would get them developed. Nani recognized what were important habits for Lilo.

When Lilo asks for a pet lobster, Nani does not tell her that lobsters are not pets. She tells her, “We don’t have a lobster door, we have a dog door.” She makes sure the woman at the pound does not tell Lilo that “Stitch is not a real name”.

NANI SPENDS THE ENTIRE MOVIE MAKING SURE THAT LILO NEVER FEELS LIKE HER IDEAS ARE WRONG.

The only time we truly see Nani get angry with Lilo is when she is scared of Lilo being taken away. Nani spends the entire movie stressed out over taking care of her sister, trying to find a job, trying to make sure her sister has a friend, and yet she is always willing to put that extra effort, over and over again, to make sure that Lilo always believes that anything is possible.

This is a great moment because she probably *remembered* that Lilo said this once. And you know what? Shes not ending this day by letting her little sister think this is her fault. She’s not having an easy time trying to be a parent, but she knows none of this is her sisters fault, and shes not going to let her think it is. 

And half of her terror of losing Lilo isnt even just losing her family; its knowing that wherever Lilo goes, they won’t know how to do these things. They won’t understand her. 

What a good movie. 

Casual reminder that the reason Lilo obsessively feeds the fish is because her parents died in a rainstorm and she firmly believes Pudge controls the weather. If you pay attention to the feeding sequence you will notice that storm clouds recede and dissipate, a visual narrative that confirms this.

It’s not just a habit. It’s a very real part of Lilo’s healing process and Nani understands that.

Also if you pay attention to Nani’s room you’ll notice she had surfing posters and trophies. She was very much on her way to being a pro surfer but had to give it up to become the adult Lilo needed her to be.

And not ONCE does Nani show her sister any resentment. It’s worth it to keep her family together. This is a young woman who is willing to sacrifice all of her dreams and make incredibly grown up decisions.

What I am saying is Nani is the best disney princess of all time. Disney Queen even.

and let’s not forget that when bubbles is putting lilo in the car after the house explodes, nani screams, “No! You’re not taking her! I’m the only one who understands her! You take that away, she won’t stand a chance!”

nani is so terribly afraid that lilo’s creativity and uniqueness will be seen as weird or bad by another family, and that she’ll be ostracized for her interests and personality. nani wants her little sister to be accepted and encouraged so  much.

🌐 Astral 102 🌐

It’s been a hefty amount of time and after several messages requesting a part 2, I decided it was time to release the sequel to my Astral 101 post; welcome to Astral 102! While you don’t need to read the Astral 101 post that I made, it does help cover the basics of the Astral, the differences between Astral Projection and Astral Travel, and how to make your own Astral territory. So if you would like to give that post a read before reading this one, go ahead and click here and then come back to this one. In this post, we will be going a bit more in depth about the astral as far how the realms work, what kind of activities can be done there, and my personal method of exploring the astral. As always, this is my UPG and I want to remind others that despite the wonders of the astral, it can be dangerous and isn’t for everybody!

Homework: Make an Astral Travel/Projectiong Meditation Playlist! Like I mention later on this post, I usually use meditation noise matching a specific ideal-location in order to find locations in the astral that I would like. So make a list of various background noise for meditation that you would like to gear to your own explorations of the astral. City noise for the city? Underwater noise to help with finding mermaids? Sounds of the forest to help with visiting elven civilizations? The choices are yours!

🌱 Nature Spirits 101 🌱

And finally-finally…. we get to my first post about nature spirits. We’ve covered the basics series, folks. We all know the basics of Spirit Companionship now, we’ve got our warding abilities in progress, and we knows the ins-and-outs about dealing with our local spirits. So now, we can really talk about the kinds of spirits you can find in this shop in the near future. Nature spirits to be exact. I’ve stated it before and I’m pretty sure the entire floral theme of the blog re-enforces it, but to cover it again as a spirit companion shop, The Flower Shoppe specializes in Nature Spirits. And once I officially get things ready and fully up and running again, the nature spirits theme will prevail.

In my personal opinion, I feel that nature spirits can be put on a bit of a back burner when it comes to Spiritwork-related posts. 

More often than not when they are mentioned, posts involving them will refer to nature spirits as more of a ‘gateway spirit’. As in a ‘gateway into beginner-level spiritwork’ posts that say using nature spirits local to your area is a great way to get used to spiritwork, spirit communication, and pendulum work. And while I agree with that 100% like there’s no denying the truth, I think it’s just as important to dive into the types of nature spirit species there are and how diverse this sect of spirits can get.

The only real species that I see getting attention that are in the nature sect of spirits would be Fae and there are a lot of posts covering them and protocols in being safe when dealing with them that I definitely recommend viewing. Especially recommend to those hoping to get involved in fae work through The Flower Shoppe, and lightly recommend to those who aren’t so they still know what to do if they encounter an influx of faeries.

But fae aside, there are lots of nature spirits that we can talk about in depth. The variety of the species of nature spirits vary so greatly that the posts about them are just the tip of the ice burg! (Tip of the pine tree?)

But in this post, we’re really going to cover the basics of nature spirits to get you guys started before diving into specific species to avoid overwhelming anyone.

Homework: If working with nature spirits interests you, which species mentioned in the post do you want to have an Info Post on the most? The shop will be properly running again officially with spirit listings this time instead of just custom conjures. And in order to really make informed decisions on what species you think you’d work best with, I’d love to know which species are the ones that are the most looked forward to in order to get those posts up and at ‘em. So send in an ask and after a couple days, I’ll see which species got the most votes.

A Spell to Protect BLM Protesters

Although magic is no substitute for genuine activism, not all of us are able to attend protests, donate money, or even be outspoken about our support. This spell allows you to magically lend your energy to the cause.

What you will need: 

Performing the Ritual:

I’m a Reiki practitioner, so when I did this spell I also incorporated a distance Reiki session to send Reiki energy to those protesting, and to add an extra layer of protection. If you practice any kind of energy work, that would be a beautiful thing to incorporate into this spell. 

If you worship any deities associated with justice, feel free to call on them during this ritual. 

Finally, if you have an altar, fold up your paper and place it on your altar once you finish the spell. Keeping the paper in a sacred space will allow it to keep receiving energy, and you can come back to pray for/send energy to protesters again in the future. 

What to do next

I think this is great but please make sure to draw your circle in a CLOCKWISE direction, not a counterclockwise one.

There is a very important distinction between the two in witchcraft. Generally, it can be summed up as such: clockwise manifests things, counterclockwise banishes.

Please make sure to always do your research before doing spell work/other rituals because it’s really easy to end up accidentally doing the exact opposite thing!!
