I demand more attention towards momma Jin
{He’s daddy material honestly 👅}

After getting a little heads up from Hattie, I learned that a park about a half hour from my host family’s house (Kitayama Koen) was having a small festival celebrating the bloom of the blue irises. I had a little free time and made the walk over there, not expecting all that much. What I found were hundreds of irises in full bloom scattered across the park with small wooden bridges between them. These flowers clearly need a lot of water to grow, so these bridges were quite high off the ground but were perfect for viewing these flowers. I have seen many different beautiful greenery in Japan, but I have never seen so many flowers (besides sakura trees) concentrated in one area. It was truly something out of a garden magazine. They apparently only bloom like this for a few weeks and come in a large variety of colors. My host mother told me they’re actually German, not Japanese originally, but I don’t think that matters. Having a moment to stop and enjoy so much natural beauty was like walking through a daydream. I need more days like this in my life. Just peacefully wandering the city, enjoying the park and the city for what it is. I really am so fortunate to be able to be here and experience all of this. The day of serenity really just made me realize how truly blessed I am to be here. I feel rejuvenated and ready to press forward. Thank you Japanese/German irises for that.
