So, did you ever wonder what statue exactly they tied Wilhelm to during his initiation?
Because symbolically the statue is actually very meaningful.
Tim Minear regarding the cut scenes from the finale [source]
I don't disagree with him that the flow would have been off, but I still think the dialogue with Andrea was important for the audience to see in order for Carlos' mental 180 to fully make sense. Because to me the jarring cut was from Carlos and Owen immediately to Carlos and TK and declaring it's the only thing he's sure about. That direct cut felt super abrupt and Carlos' mental transition didn't feel clear to me.
Possibly just adjusting the preparation scene so that it's not Carlos doubting and seeking reassurance for himself, but Carlos checking in on his mother, seeking to check on her mental state and still getting that lovely reaction of essentially 'we're both going to allow ourselves to experience joy in the face of overwhelming grief!'
the day you asked your father to be your best man, it was the happiest i had ever seen him. so yes. you’re damn right we’re doing the right thing. (x)
