So I do recommend reading the full article. But in short this new bill heavily criminalizes protest. Depending on your changes, peacefully protesting can get you up to 15 years in jail. You can receive a third degree felony. Which means you won’t be able to vote, can’t receive government assistance like unemployment or food stamps. Also this bill sets up legal precedence for instances of when people run over protesters.

So this is fucking terrible to put it lightly. And like this part of the reason the distinction of peaceful and violent protest is a moot point. Like beyond mass disenfranchisement like this will lead to many people losing government assistance in the middle of a pandemic. Also Covid like most diseases reeks havoc in prisons. And regardless of how long this lasts do not forget prisoners in your activism.

I don’t live in Florida so I don’t s have a full rundown of DeSantis’s crimes. But like I remember last year when he sent cops to intimidate a scientist who was trying to show that the government was severely underreporting cases. And cops came guns a drawn to her home late at night. Like I want to watch the video, go for it but it was extremely uncomfortable to watch. Which I’m not linking it, if I remember correctly her kids were there too, it was terrible. This country Covid response is was in general horrible, but Florida was a whole nother level. And allegedly they have 2 million which about 10% but who knows who accurate that is.

And so like while it’s great Chauvin is getting punished is great. Considering how many people who have been killed by the police just in the last few months alone. Shit is not over. Y’all be careful.

Hi, my name’s Devin and I’m transmasc. I’m 21 and I live in Iowa. I am looking to start hrt to help alleviate my dysphoria and depression. I lived in Florida up until about a month ago, and lived with my religious grandparents. I recently was disowned by the people I called my family, and due to that, as well as the rise in anti lgbt legislature in Florida, I moved in with my girlfriend in Iowa. Due to the very sudden move with very little time to prepare, I have little to my name and I currently have an empty bank account and no insurance. i wish more abled people realised that when disabled (esp physiclly disabled) people say that disablity is a full time job its not a metaphor, its the truth.

theres so much that goes into managing disability: physical therapy, appointments, medial admin, other treatments, the extra time it takes to do things (including daily activities like eating, going to the toilet, getting dressed) as well as the extra rest time required. the extra transport time. time spent waiting on carers, or other people who you rely on.

i would genuinely be surprised if it didnt add up to 40 hours a week.
