My propaganda for Simon boils down to "his ancestor Leon participated in a Crusade which started in Alsace, which at the time was (relatively) newly Catholic, and by his time - as far as I've been able to find - Wallachia and Transylvania did have a significant Catholic population" and also "Japanese game developers don't seem to understand Orthodox iconography is wildly different from Catholic and thus use the latter for everything" with a sprinkling of "Castlevania!Dracula is implied to be literally the king of Hell or at least all demons and monsters on Earth, and Simon kicked his ass twice". (Possible counter to my first point: his ancestor Trevor married a woman explicitly stated in multiple Japanese-only sources to be an agent of the Eastern Orthodox Church and may or may not have jumped over to that side of the schism for her sake.) Also, he's my blorbo and looks out for his younger colleagues and/or descendants like they're his children when he's thrown into a situation where he's suddenly the most experienced vampire hunter present: he's motivated by love of humankind rather than hatred of evil.
And yet... I wanted to be Dana Scully when I grew up, before I got so messed up from the things that come with growing up Gay that I convinced myself I wasn't a woman. This is hardly fair, darn it!

Remember y'all, white is not a race, it's a concept used to other anyone considered not white. Italians, polish people, Jewish people, all were at one point, and still are in many cases considered non white. Dismantling whiteness is not a personal attack on you, it's an attack on the societal mechanisms of white privilege and the othering of "undesirables"
