The police officers seemed more concerned with calling Rep. John Walker a “race baiter” for doing something completely legal than they were in upholding the law. But the kicker is that Rep. Walker had already been arrested for the same thing years ago, which is why he fought for the law (and won) in the first place.

there’s something so special about falling in love with nature every time you see a little detail like a fallen leaf on the ground that’s slowly turning brown... or spotting a tiny mushroom that’s sprouting from a tree... or just getting a warm feeling when you see the moon, i’m in love with the little things of life

evictions will begin again in NYC in about a month, and this will leave many people and families homeless, which in the heart of this country's epidemic could be a death sentence. shelters are already overcrowded as it is.

please donate to the NYC Eviction Fund started by Esteban Martinez here:

many cities are also about to be facing a mass eviction crisis. one way to help is donate to or start mutual aid funds like this specifically for eviction prevention in your city. housing is a human right!

it’s a powerful project

[ image is photograph of a brick wall with two big posters. the first one is the new york times article with every line blacked out except “officer Darren Wilson fatally shot unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown.” and to the right is a large blow up poster of Michael Brown in a graduation photo. ]

This is Alexandra Bell’s work for her series called “counter narratives” who is an incredible artist from Chicago (now based in NYC, I believe) who revises mainstream media pieces about Black people to actually reflect the reality of Black folks and to make white media bias visible. She has one about Serena Williams and the whitensupremacist who attacked demonstrators in Charlottesville with his car.

Bell visited and spoke at the art museum I used to work at and put her work up across the university campus. She’s a fkn icon. Follow Bell’s work.

So my brother and I were just talking on the phone and we realized: Aang might have mastered all four elements but Sokka mastered the non-bending styles from all four nations!

He already knew how to fight with Water Tribe weapons/regalia:

Then, in what’s likely the first Earth Kingdom village he’s ever visited, he learned how to fight with the Warriors of Kyoshi:

When he reached the Northern Air Temple, he was able to tap into the philosophy of the airbenders and realize that the best way to win a battle is to avoid face-to-face confrontation by instead using creative means (and the sky) to take down your opponent:

And finally, when he reached the Fire Nation, Piandao taught him how to forge a unique weapon and hone his swordsmanship:

Sokka learned all four non-bending styles!

Really puts Iroh’s quote into a different context:

“Understanding the other nations will help you become whole.”

Only support for Sokka’s in this house

“i’m sad and idk how to feel better”

“i don’t know what to draw”

“i always mess up”

“BUT I SUCK”

LISTEN TO BOB ROSS.

Bob Ross was paid $0 to make his series. He made a living giving lessons IRL and later selling his own line of paints and brushes.

I apologize for not reblogging him as much but everyone needs this on their dash daily.  Seriously everyone needs this on their blog or wherever. Do they rerun this anymore or no?

Words of wisdom!
