SO, ahem, I'm glad you asked. John is trans. Alexander knocked him up their last year of college so John panicked and dropped out, broke up with Alex, but never told him why. Alex has no idea Pip exists, and so they meet like, 5 years later, and Alex doesn't realize that's his kid, just that John has obv moved on and has a life. There's alot of drama and angst and I love it so much.
