Once More Unto the Breach

@nelsynoo

29 year old with a penchant for baking, shopping and broadway musicals. I have both a Masters Degree in War and an alarmingly extensive Disney collection. I like to read, go rock-climbing, peruse art galleries and play Bioware games over and over while making the same choices each time.

keep seeing posts saying kids should learn to cook at school...I assumed home ec was compulsory everywhere

feel free to put in the tags how much specifically. we did cooking classes between ages 12 and 14, and learnt a range of stuff from basic meals, cooking skills like chopping veggies, baking, etc

Green zircon "cracked glass" dice. Unfortunately, the Etsy storefront I purchased these from (DiceARTstudio) turned out to be a dropshipper from China, meaning they purchased dice at reduced cost directly from a non-Etsy seller, immediately marked up the price to an Etsy buyer, gave the original seller the buyer's address, then pocketed the difference. The storefront has now been shut down and only has tie pins available. Go figure.

I hope Quark doesn’t mind me hijacking her post but for any UK-based dice goblins (or dice goblins who don’t mind a high shipping fee) - I highly recommend Clockwork Arcana if you’re after some cracked glass dice. I have a red cracked glass set from them and they are AMAZING. Their store only seems to have a black cracked glass set right now but it’s worth checking regularly because they always have new stock (they had an emerald green set at a recent con and it was so pretty).

They also have beautiful notebooks and I have one of their INCREDIBLE spell slot trackers. Just an all-round good store and definitely not just a storefront with a big mark-up.

BREAKING NEWS! secondhand book, upon first reading, is discovered to have the underlinings and annotations of a previous owner. a hundred hearts have been healed, more at 8

This is all lovely and heart-warming until you come across annotations with which you VEHEMENTLY DISAGREE but you are unable to argue back.

Luckily most of my books are ‘borrowed’ from my mother so when I come across an INCORRECT ANNOTATION, I can call her up and be like “on page 230 you said something that was wrong and now I’m going to tell you why...”

It’s not!!! 👏🏼👏🏼 Enough!!! 👏🏼👏🏼

It’s never enough.

@perahn OMG, you have several sets I’ve been lusting after on Etsy! I see the brown/gold bee one in the upper right, the dichromic glass ones (I think?) in the white plastic case, and the opalescent set in the bottom right. That maker has an absolutely GORGEOUS sandstone/moon themed set I want so badly for my circle of stars druid, but I can’t bring myself yet to drop $80+ on one set. Ha!

Do you have a few favorite sets right now? Where the heck do you store these?

@bettydice summoned me and it is MY TIME TO SHINE!

This photo was taken about two weeks ago so my hoard has certainly expanded since then. And did I buy the rainbow Pride set from @wizardswhimsydice because I saw Aimee Carrero playing with them in EXU? YES I DID!

The majority of mine fit in the Laura Bailey dice bag of hoarding - but a few special sets live in pretty cases.

The ONLY WAY to combat the lack of funding in arts education is for professionals to take a few hours a week to share their skills for FREE, to empower and encourage the next generation of artists. THIS IS WHAT THE INTERNET IS FOR. Here’s 200 tutorials:

So I’ve been thoroughly enjoying @jadesabre301‘s updates about her adventures in Skyrim, and the blossoming romance between her dovahkiin, Brittany, and stoic mercenary, Stenvar. And it made me think of my own, far less successful, interactions with Skyrim’s companions.

So I start the game, I pick up Lydia in Dragonsreach, and off we go questing. I join the thieves’ guild, I help the Imperials because Ulfric seems like an asshole, I buy a house in Riften. But then at some point, Lydia dies - AND I DON’T NOTICE!

And the thing is, I’m one of those obsessive people who has like... 20+ save slots that I cycle through. When I save over a save slot, it’s from MANY hours earlier. Lydia was dead in every single one of my saves. She had died HOURS if not DAYS before I’d noticed.

I felt so guilty about what I’d done that I played the rest of the game without ever picking up another companion, for fear that they would meet the same fate. I walked from the stormy shores of the Ghost Sea to the frigid peaks of the druadach mountains with only my loneliness for company, forever in penance for my crime.

Anyway - congrats, Jade, on the blessed event of this wedding. I wish Brittany and Stenvar a long and happy life.
