It seems like there has been a cultural shift with my generation towards respecting the trades. Most guys my age that I know aren’t going to university and are instead going into apprenticeships. Here in Australia some electricians are paid more than doctors.

My GenX friends went into trades almost entirely, with many teaching on the side, and I've been hoping more and more people shift toward respecting trade work again. These folks have so much knowledge about how things work and how things break and when it's time to let things go.
