If you’re a white feminist who thinks “not all men” is bullshit, you should recognize that “not all white people” is equally bullshit. If you are a white person who flinches at the term “white terrorist”: Good. Flinch all you want, but use the phrase, because it’s accurate. It makes us white people uncomfortable, and that’s a good thing. We can’t fight racism while feeling comfortable. It doesn’t work like that.

When a white man walks into a black community and opens fire on unarmed civilians, he is a white terrorist.

I know it’s uncomfortable. We better be uncomfortable when talking about oppression if we ourselves are the oppressors. Sure, we may or may not intend to oppress or be aware that we are oppressive. But by being white, we benefit from white privilege, regardless of our intentions.
