So it's pretty well accepted that after Stefan died and Elena and Damon got married and had kids they named their daughter Stephanie in honor of Stefan.
Damon being the king of nicknames would call her Annie, sweetpea, etc.
I had a thought when Stephanie is in kindergarten or first grade and Damon goes to pick her up he overhears one of Stephanie's friends call her Stef.
And he just loses it because even after all these years he still misses his brother.
And no matter how old Stephanie gets he never calls her Stef, always another nickname.
Because Stef will always be the nickname for his hero haired brother.
