They are not as high-profile as the WGA, but I would like to bring everyone's attention to the imminent strike action by thousands of hotel workers in Los Angeles. They are set to go on strike tomorrow, July 1st, 2023.

More than 15,000 hotel workers are seeking higher pay, better benefits, and working conditions. This includes an across-the-board $5 an hour raise, as well as affordable healthcare and better pensions. They also are seeking a ban on the use of E-Verify, which is used to deny employment to undocumented workers and workers involved with the criminal justice system. You can follow what is happening at their Twitter.

media you can't touch because you interacted with it during a really bad and dark time in your life and the entire media is coated in gross drippy bad-touch depression gunk vs media you can't touch because you interacted with it during a really good time in your life and trying to touch it zaps your brain with pangs of longing and grief for what you no longer have, fight

Stating that a species has no natural predators implies the existence of at least one unnatural predator. I wanna see the species whose sole predator is the fucking Mothman.

Just, like, a species of ground squirrel that’s preyed on exclusively by ghosts.

My favourite thing about this post is people reblogging the OP to go “HUMANS”, and it’s legitimately unclear whether they’re being obnoxious pedants about the formal definition of “natural predator”, or whether they just mean “humans are the species whose sole predator is Mothman”.

It's pretty shocking. First thing I saw people asking in reaction to this was "Do other viruses do this?" And the answer was 'yes'. So they minimize and assume that that's just what all viruses do.

Unfortunately the OTHER viruses fusing braincells (and lung cells btw) are things like RABIES, not the random cold that went through the office last week.

Fusing brain cells causes the fused structure to malfunction and eventually die. You don't want your non-replenishing braincells fusing and dying in clusters. Neuroplasticity allows you to work around deficiencies caused by damage to a varying extent, but it does not reverse that your brain has irreversibly aged. It does not reverse your permanently increased risk of dementia.

Stop catching Covid.
