((So I don’t like posting this stuff too much to my roleplaying blog, but I thought it’d be worth a try to get word out a bit. I’m holding a sale on commission work. I’m offering “painterly,” head-and-shoulder character portraits for $30 a piece, and more elaborate illustrations for $100 each. These are digitally drawn and painted by hand using a Wacom tablet, and prints are available for the additional cost of print + shipping. She sat patiently on the grey concrete slab letting the heat of the sun reach down and touch her back, the leather of her wings, feeling it move slowly through her shivering body from back to front. After a few moments her shaking stopped and she curled her neck backward, stretching her face upward toward the sun, feeling as if the very bones of her back stretched apart and even carefully did the same with her wings, stretching out the long, damp, cold autumn, winter, and spring. Breathing deeply as if human, she savoured the warmth, the scents, the sounds, before drawing her awareness back to herself and cloaking everything that showed her to be other than human -- except her hair, for the array of highlights and rare colors were no longer unusual in a world of salons and now boxes of hair color you could even buy at a local shop. It was braided in two long braids, nearly hitting the hem of her t-shirt. Her jeans were long, her feet bare; she was comfortable. She glanced from the curb across the street toward the burnt-yellow Bug. She didn't mind waiting outside. Maybe she'd go sit and wait beside the car. She rather liked this year called 1970, if she ignored what the humans were doing to one another. Why did she care? She shouldn't. But she did. And that troubled her.

It’s really humiliating when I can’t open a door and people just stand and watch me struggle.
