Countdown to the day the students dismiss, and I have the time to actually create art again!
First artwork I've done in a long time.
Guess what animal has made a home in the staff room couch?
Instead of doing any of a million more important things, I made my cat a Hobbit hole.
some of us were put on this earth to draw characters standing against a blank background 5000 times
Wow. I'm not feeling called out or anything.
Tom's interview on BBC Breakfast ❤
I’m not sure how I feel about this vest coming back.
I love the pantaloon waistcoat! Tom’s loyalty to his favorite pieces of clothing - even when they don’t really go with anything - is so endearing, and, honestly, it’s as slow-fashion as one can go. It’s a dismissal of fashion trends. It’s doing his own thing and not giving a f*** what anyone else thinks about that. And I love that about Tom.
Why is it a 'pantaloon' waistcoat?
What aspect of it makes it pantalooney?
Day 31 of Inktober is Farm.
Only barn animals around to judge them, so Porthos doesn’t have to work hard to convince Athos to share his body heat.
This pose is borrowed from an artist online, but I can’t track down their name.
Day 28 of Inktober is Camping.
It’s so nice to spend time in the great outdoors and enjoy nature.
Right, Athos?
Day 27 of Inktober is Snack.
Aramis might be the more traditionally handsome of their trio, but Porthos is an absolute snack.
Day 25 of Inktober is Tempting.
It is really tempting to just draw Musketeer fluff for every day of Inktober.
Pose borrowed from hvit-ravn.
Day 24 of Inktober is Fairy.
‘And her godmother struck the pumpkin with her wand, and it was instantly turned into a fine coach, gilded all over with gold.’
Athos may not have many words of his own, but he is willing to learn as many fairy tales as it takes to keep his daughter satisfied.
Day 23 of Inktober is Booger.
At twelve years old, Joe Hardy is possibly a little old to be laughing at booger jokes... except he totally isn’t. He’s a just a kid, who uses a shoe lace as a belt, and is pretty sure he can solve mysteries if only he had a later bedtime.
Day 22 of Inktober is Heist.
Does your family have a default film, that you’ve watched together over and over and over? Ours is National Treasure. I don’t know why we love it so much. I think it came out at exactly the right time to appeal to all my siblings at once, and it had enough big name stars to draw in my parents.
I think it was our ‘The Mummy’, but with fewer scary bits. Adventures in a far-off country, mystery, chase scenes, treasure, a romantic couple and a funny guy. Bad guy with a cool accent.
I was running low on time tonight, so you can see the detail gradually running out as I worked from left to right.
Day 21 of Inktober is Bad Dog.
This, again, has nothing to do with the prompt.
Starsky is just chillin’ at Huggy Bear’s
Day 20 of Inktober is Bluff.
Sometimes I like leaving the pencil lines behind after I’m done a drawing. It feels like finding the bay leaf in a bowl of soup. A surprise ‘Oh! It really was homemade,’ sort of feeling.
Day 19 of Inktober is Ponytail.
Ugh. Hair.
Day 18 of Inktober is Scrape.
Newkirk is having a really rough time of it.
Day 17 of Inktober is Salty.
Porthos is a little salty that I was messing around on him with a new pen.
Day 16 of Inktober is Fowl.
Yeah. No connection to the prompt with this one.
I don’t know if Athos is especially short in the torso, or his horse is shorter than the other two. But he always throws off the nice shots of them lined up on horseback. Maybe Roger the horse needs a thicker saddle.
Day 15 of Inktober is Armadillo.
What a bizarre prompt, but I wanted to draw Sylvie, and I think she’s got a tough outer shell like an armadillo (unless they don’t have a shell. am I thinking of an ant-eater?).
She was supposed to look thoughtful, but apparently I need to work on my expressions.
