🎉BCBA Needs Your Support for 2019!🎉

Hi,

Black Children’s Books and Authors (”BCBA”) truly appreciates all of you. Because you have subscribed to our newsletter and follow us here on Tumblr and other social media platforms, We know you believe in our mission to promote awareness of children’s literature by Black authors and that we provide valuable services. Some of those services include:

  • Showcasing books written by Black authors
  • Keeping you aware of new book releases
  • Giving books to the children in our local Memphis community
  • And, most importantly, providing a directory of Black children’s authors for you to discover.

Yes, it takes a lot of time, energy, and commitment, to research, categorize, and curate all that information, but we are passionate about our mission and want to do more. If you want to see us do more in 2019, now is a great time to give as we welcome in the new year and all its possibilities!

We want to implement ideas that will improve our website, engage guest writers and reviewers, as well as offer other services and events that will reach a wider audience. There is a great need for parents, educators, librarians, community leaders, and those who just love reading to find diverse and inclusive stories by Black authors. BCBA fills that need. Now, we need your support.

Anonymous asked:

Is discretion still an issue as a prospective graduate member?

Yes. It always is. You’d be surprised how many graduate potential aspirants get rejected due to this.

Not sure where to post my follow up question but here goes: What could they be saying and who might they be saying it to in order to jeopardize their chances? Thx

Hi All! This is a Masterlist of all the tags used to organize our page. We urge you to search our tags BEFORE asking a question in the event it has already been answered or there is more information we’ve shared. Also check the Archives as well if you feel you have a common question! We will update this list as needed, there is also a page with these links that is visible on our blog. Enjoy!

Oh yes!

Keep up with ALL social media accounts

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer so many questions. I just want to encourage readers to keep up with all of the various social media accounts of their desired Greek letter organization. Having only one social media account, I found myself missing out on numerous events that I could have attended this year, had I been on a different account and seen their regular posts. If you can’t find your desired chapter through one avenue, keep looking, do your research. This has been an interesting journey.

Great advice!

Admin’s note: Especially graduate/alumni chapters!  Most people of a certain age primarily use facebook, but SOME grad chapters are actually on tumblr!

Yes! Thank you. I failed to mention that I was speaking of grad chapters. The majority of the grad chapters in my state do not have functioning websites. So, aspirants, just be prepared to look in other places for the information you need.
