I am fresh off of drawing an entire graphic novel (which will be out in stores Feb 2024 oh boy!) and about to start Kickstarter fulfillment for my other (18+) comic, and NOW I FINALLY CAN GET BACK TO SAKANA. It has been a long few years for everyone. :U
Right now I'm focusing on building a buffer of pages before I decide on an official relaunch date, but there are NEW ACTUAL PAGES IN EXISTENCE AS WE SPEAK. I thought it would be hard to jump back in but turns out when you've done something 600 times already the BODY REMEMBERS.
I don't have a set goal for buffer pages other than "A LOT OF THEM" but I'll be posting them to the $5 tier of my Patreon until I decide on a public relaunch date (hopefully mid summer?) There's already 3 whole real pages up there. Unbelievable.
Anyhoo, thanks to everyone who's been waiting patiently for Jiro Sakana to get his ass in gear!! A whole pandemic has happened (is happening!) since the last update oh my god.
It's good to be back!

I've pointed to different sources at different times (and Hypnos Hadesgame is definitely a top contender) but I recently heard this song again after a long time and now I can't think of anything else but the two of them doing like...karaoke...

A bobtail squid! My patrons voted for this little guy as February’s sticker design, and it went through QUITE a journey from concept to completion. In the end I thought the blue/green was too close to a blue coelacanth sticker I’d already made, so I fiddled around with the colors and landed on orange!

I was trying to do so many different things with RR but in the end I just think my “angry guy totally blindsided by feelings for nice guy” disease overtook me once again 😔

YES I do also make Robber/Robert. Part of taking a break from Sakana was coming up with and working on something VERY different lol. RR Chapter 2 will hopefully be starting in the next month or two! My big comics dream is to get back to a place where both series can run concurrently, but, for now, one thing at a time!

Thanks for reading, and yes I am coming back to it! I just got back from ECCC and it was so nice to hear from so many fans who are excited for it to return! I really needed time and space to work on some other projects (and my mental health lol) but I'm getting to a fantastic place, work and brain wise, where launching into volume 4 doesn't feel like such a daunting task!
I know I've said as much a few times over the last year or so, but it really can't be overstated how much better I feel compared to the years I was making volume 3. I'm excited to come back to it refreshed, recharged, and ready to draw SO MANY little sweat drops. So many, you can't even believe.
I’ll be at Emerald City Comic Con this week in Seattle with my beautiful assistant, @gannon-jaspering! We’ll be at table I-14 in the artist alley Thursday till Sunday!
