Gove radio interview is clearest evidence yet that the Tories misled voters over Tax Credits – Seema Malhotra

Seema Malhotra MP, Labour’s Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury, reacting to new evidence from a Michael Gove radio interview that the Tories denied they were planning to cut Tax Credits in the General Election campaign, said: 

“This is the clearest evidence yet that the Tories misled voters about their plans to slash Tax Credits. They say their intentions were made clear in the General Election campaign.

“That’s not true. 

“We have David Cameron on Question Time and now we have Michael Gove’s interview that is even more explicit. Every step of the way the Tories have been trying to hide the truth.

“Now the Tories are conducting a disgraceful campaign of bullying and intimidation against the House of Lords. The Lords have every right to challenge the Tax Credit cuts that will see 3.2 million families on Working Tax Credit lose on average £1,300 a year from next April which were not in the Tory manifesto.”

Sad to see, but people have to realise that the Tories are going to Tory, meaning punch and stamp on the poor, the disabled, the less fortunate and give rewards to the rich and powerful while selling off our national heritage. They’re mammonites, they worship wealth, finance and the “free” market.
