imo i feel like even tho the series is based on a musical group, theres not much music based storylines? so its rly fun to read more of the music side of things with roxy <3
RAHHHHH THANK YOU FOR ASKING... i spend a lot of time thinking about roxy's musical interest but i don't spend much about the rest of the cast aside from a few offhanded mentions here and there. this was a challenge to put together but it was so fun! <3
the main thing i want to mention before i dive into oc music taste is the presence of music surrounding my story! every chapter title, song mentioned, musical influence etc i'm trying to keep within the timeframe + past in which the story takes place. as someone who was not really aware of popular radio in 2009, this is a very fun challenge for me.
It features the song where I got the title of the fic first, then the chapter titles! (and a sneak peak of the next few titles of unreleased chapters <3) These songs aren't meant to reflect anything onto the characters, it's basically just my own music taste fitting the chapters.

Just read your essay on BTRs family and its awesome. Logan has two moms! Do you think Gustavo and Roxy know yet or has it just not come up yet? I'd also imagine knowing that made it easier for James to come out to the guys.
roxy knows about all of their family situations by chapter 19! we will see this unfold next week :) as for gustavo, in the same way roxy receives this information, he and kelly get it too, but from currently being outsiders in not only the boys personal lives but not having ever lived in duluth (where james' mom is literally famous etc) it doesn't mean the same to them as it does to her.
as for the ease of james' coming out, i don't really think he ever really did in the traditional "hey, i love you guys, i just wanted to let you know i'm bisexual" to logan, kendall, and carlos... it's just a part of his life, you know? he's into girls, so he dates them, he's into guys, so he dates them. when he mentioned his first boyfriend to his buds (almost exactly like he did with roxy, just naturally part of a conversation) the four of them were close enough friends to where it just felt natural i guess? i don't really know how to explain it. it wasn't like a "oh, yeah, we know you like guys james, cool, thanks for telling us," situation it was more like "oh, so that's why you made us watch aladdin like 500 times as children, cool," situation. when he's around his friends there's no anxiety or fear surrounding sharing that part of his life, it's just natural to want to share.
i know this experience is not universal nor do i believe it's very common, as we see for other lgbtq+ characters in this story like one of logan's moms, but i don't see his sexuality as something he felt would be difficult to discuss or needed to explicitly label or tell people about since it's so fluid anyway! it's just who he is!

after 18 chapters and ~260k words the boy did hm!???????
thank you for the kind words :) i’m also excited to get into season 2, though i anticipate that i will take a few episodes out of my story (the wedding, the earth day, and the sneaker episodes are the big ones, we’ll have to see) and i’ll rearrange the order of a few (a christmas episode and then a few later a beach episode? that’s a precious six months gone to waste…)… but it’s my favorite season as well!!
as for the movie… i know it’s so long to go but i have so many ideas!!!!
