hmm okay so go with me on this because this is the only way i can think to reconcile what is currently happening with spock and what we know the future holds
as of right now spock is in a quasi love triangle thing with t’pring and chapel. we also know that kirk is going to be introduced here at the end of season one or at the top of season two
we also know that spock only tells one of those people that he “always has been and always shall be” theirs… and it’s not t’pring or chapel
after this last episode i’m beginning to wonder if what ultimately pulls him away from t’pring and chapel is kirk. because let’s be real, there’s no way for this show to introduce kirk and then NOT lay the groundwork for what would become his and spock’s relationship
i know it seems a bit out there and i don’t necessarily mean this in a shippy sense (even tho i’d def prefer that) but i’m beginning to think he’ll ultimately drift away from t’pring and chapel for the exact same reason: they expect him to be something he’s not
t’pring clearly expects that at some point spock will come back to vulcan and dedicate himself fully to the vulcan way, disregarding his sense of duty and desire to stay in starfleet
chapel told him in episode nine that the powerful emotions he was feeling and having difficulty controlling just made him human. the last thing spock wants is to be human
they both have an inherent misunderstanding of who spock is and who he wants to be. this is where kirk could potentially come in
kirk’s relationship with spock is notable in that kirk is really the only person who has ever fully accepted spock for who he is. he doesn’t expect him to be or turn into anyone else. he’s just spock and that’s all kirk has ever wanted from him. and i’m beginning to wonder if this is what pulls spock away from t’pring and chapel and towards kirk, which would be incredible to see since we know by tos he’s estranged from t’pring and distant with chapel. and yet, spock and kirk are living so far up each other’s ass that they’re rarely seen doing something separate from each other. maybe strange new worlds is endeavoring to show us how they got there
or they could also just set the house on fire and have spock banging t’pring and chapel forever and him and kirk become the dude-iest or dudebros but i’m giving snw a lot more credit than that. DO NOT LET ME DOWN SNW I BELIEVE IN YOU
