I feel that a large part of the humiur is lost in not including the fact that 笼 in mandarin means cage (笼子), and so the word latern literally means “lamp in a cage”.

Bc you know, cage…? Jail…? At least i think that’s where the joke came from? Or is OP’s dad just this random LOL

Oh oh my god, seriously? Thank you. It’s strangely exhilerating, how those pictures I made for Merlin can still affect people. I was talking about this with Da-ge @cloudyfromoobsession​ last night, this disconnect I feel from Merlin now. 

But I was into Merthur for pretty much my whole twenties, why? I just realized that it ran parallel to my decade-long depression. Trapped between multiple sources of pressure, Merthur was my lifeline away from real life. When feeling bad, just take everything out on Merlin and Arthur, the poor dears. ::))) 

(For some reason early this year, I suddenly just... stopped caring what other people thought. Stopped caring what I thought other people thought. I mean my brain still likes to overthink, but it’s like I ran out of fucks to give. Uhuh, so what? So what, brain? *Jiang Cheng eyeroll* And there went my depression. It’s a miracle.) 

I will definitely be making more fanart in the future! I’m very happy at the moment. *nods* (Such an inappropriate time to be happy, but alas...) Congrats on finding the Merlin fandom, you’re going to have a great time. :D All the best to you as well!!! *HUGS* <333

I saw your recent artwork for the Yunmeng siblings and it was crazy timing because I literally just rewatched episodes 19-22 when the reunite. Knowing their futures aghh its heart breaking. They loved each other so much. As always you have beautiful art and this pieces' style is so peaceful and dreamlike it's like a memory of better times. I love it. I hope you are inspired to do more in the future from the show.

I’m also in the middle of my (third) rewatch, and I totally get you. The tidal of wave of feelings -- pain, pride, happiness, whatever it is -- somehow gets stronger the more times I rewatch... which, isn’t it normally the other way around? I’ve never ever rewatched a show before this one.

Anyway, the backstory between the Yunmeng siblings piece is this: 

me: do you ship anyone with jc in particular? or is it anything goes? im just curious cos i need to gift you something in the future for dragging me into this fandom.

Well, no, I’ve never posted or considered posting speedpaints of my process... Just. There are so so many art geniuses out there who can present their ideas better and more effeciently, why spoil the pot? :)

But I can tell you that I’m p much doing it the same way everyone else is. Here are some quick studies that I did for work. Might give you some idea?

I surprised me too. :) I really, genuinely thought that Merlin / Merthur would be it for me. That after falling out of my one and only fandom for eight years, I’d no longer have the time or energy for such things, that this artblog would stay a graveyard. Apparently not!

Nonnie, my guy, my dude… *leans heavily* I’m not only doing Merlin stuff now, but I’ve been so preoccupied with work that it ends up being all I have time for. But now that you’ve mentioned, I think I will try harder next year… to relax and do more sketches here and there. It’s a goal, anyway. Thank you.

The Change Trilogy

The Prologue and Book I are finally here!!! Thanks for all your help in encouraging @colinmorgasms! ♥

I reread the first book a couple of weeks ago, and let me just say… a couple of paragraphs into the Prologue and I was hooked all over again. Damn. It’s truly one of a kind, if only for its sheer completeness. Mallory doesn’t cut any corners, it’s really meant to be a continuation of the last season.

Here and there a character would say or do something that would make me go, ‘Hey, it’s you! I recognize you!’ and also ‘Whaaat??’ cos tfw this is totally them from the show – but also, somehow, Changed. Mallory makes sense out of all the canon characterizations and it just somehow works. And given the setting of the fic and our reality atm, this has the potential to be cathartic in more ways than one. 

Like. It might even convince you like it convinced me, many times over, that this could have been the Season 6. Yes, this is how they would have felt. This is how they would have chosen, human as they are. This is how they could have shined. Please just have a little patience through it! All will be brilliant. ♥
