Listen I get when some people think of it as such, because calling a trans woman a fem boy is bad, but it's like. Only in that context. The actual idea of the identity of femboy and the people that find comfort and want to be under that label is perfectly harmless. Like, if someone called me...I dunno, fuckin Robert? Yeah, that'd be an issue, cuz that's not my name and I don't want that name, but like there's nothing inherently wrong with the actual name.

*I’m also profoundly tired of seeing my fellow Jews write these types, but hey, I don’t dictate to you how to do your Jewishness or write your Jewish characters (and recognize that in Ye Olden Days, #1 and #2 were often the only Jews you could get on the mainstream screen). Usual disclaimer that I am Only One Person and this is by no means comprehensive of All The Things I’m Done With, nor is this Every Tip Ever To Write Better Jews. 

TL;DR to Avoid: The Just-A-Jew, The Barely-A-Jew, and The Cardboard Cutout for Political Discourse. 

TL;DR to do better: Characters who are BOTH well-rounded and Jewish, Diverse Jews, Jewish Beta/Sensitivity Readers, specificness in Jewishness, coding awareness, know antisemitic tropes to avoid them, and RESEARCH.

but… they’re not. Trans is short for “transitioning” which is to say you go from one gender to the other. Non-binary people are not transitioning to another gender. They’re just not moving from one to another.

trans is not and has never been short for transitioning you dumb hoe

trans is short for transgender dumbass

also for those who don’t get it, the creator of the trans flag herself (monica helms, to be exact) has stated verbally, herself, that the white stripe in the flag was for nonbinary individuals + that nonbinary ppl are absolutely trans

if you exclude nonbinary folks and tell us we’re not trans go fuck yourselves

For people who forget: the whole thing of being transgender is that you identify with a gender that isn’t your sex/what you were born as. Because no one is assigned nonbinary at birth, being nonbinary is inherently transgender because you’re not cis about it.

  • MAKE PEACE WITH DISAPPOINTING YOUR PARENTS
  • GO TO THERAPY IF POSSIBLE
  • FOLLOW AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR NEW TATTOOS AND PIERCINGS
  • EAT A MEAL BEFORE DRINKING
  • DON'T MIX DRUGS
  • IT'S HARD TO BE YOURSELF WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW YOURSELF SO JUST KEEP TRYING NEW THINGS
  • THROW EVERYTHING AT THE WALL LIKE SPAGHETTI TO SEE WHAT STICKS
  • YOU WILL DISCOVER YOURSELF THE SAME WAY YOU DISCOVER NEW COFFEE SHOPS AND NEW BANDS
  • YOU WILL GET THERE
  • DON'T MAKE A LONG POST IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE YOUR VOICE WILL START TO HURT FROM SHOUTING
