important PSA about when your car is smoking
like literally smoking from the engine
white and you smell pancakes? it’s the coolant. panic and pull over, but you’ll live
a slight blue tinge? it’s the oil. panic and pull over, but you’ll live
grey, looks like fire smoke? gasoline; the most combustable and dangerous. pull over and leave the vehicle, pray.
sharing because i didn’t know this when my car started smoking white yesterday and i was so afraid for my life.
Reblogging because a dear friend of my Moms with mechanic experience told me the same thing when I got my license.
your shade of brown is beautiful
in some states if you work two jobs even if they’re both only 5 hours a week at minimum wage you don’t qualify for snap benefits [food card] because you have “multiple sources of income.” tell me again how these laws are meant to make sure only real poor people get benefits …
Not in the same vein but you can’t qualify for any financial aid for college if you take less than 6 hours credit. This includes subsidized loans….so if you work 2 or more jobs and try to take 1 class at a time; you better be ready to pay out of pocket. Access to college for all is a joke, federal regulations employ classist tactics to keep the poor poor.
And just to combine the two, if you’re a full-time college student you can’t get snap benefits unless you also work over 20 hours a week. Which every kind of student adviser tells you not to do if you want to succeed in school. So.
Not only can you not get financial aid for less than 6 credit hours, if you take more than that you can’t get disability because, and I quote from my experience, “if you can sit in a classroom, you can have a job.” Regardless of your health apparently.
in regards to disability, in the US that is not the case. if someone has told you that they are lying. it is possible to be a full time student and receive SSI (and I assume you could do the same and get SSDI). unless the rules are different in VT (where I live) you can be a full time student and be on disability. it is possible, however, for SSA asshats to tell you that you aren’t disabled because you can manage being a full time student and reject your disability application, in which case I would look into appealing the decision. people have a much higher success rate on appeals than they do the first go around.
the system is designed to help as few people as possible, and it make it so confusing that half the people eligible for benefits don’t know that they qualify. do not take any one person’s word for it (even if they work for the government). do your own research and know your rights.
disability secrets is a really great website with a huge amount of information on different types of benefits, applying for disability, appealing rejections, and keeping your benefits.

THIS IS SO IMPORTANT
Reblogging because I care about you guys
Important
Rohypnol has an INCREDIBLY salty taste to it. It’s disgusting. And it also isn’t a drug that acts immediately! The minute you notice the salty taste, you have about 5-10 minutes to get somewhere safe or call an ambulance, and it CAN be fought if you’re aware of it. It will make you woozy, it will make you so dizzy you can’t stand upright, it will certainly make you unable to walk properly, but if you struggle to remain conscious you can get about 20 extra minutes of consciousness from the drug before it will knock you out completely. If you’re in a public place, and the person who drugged you is trying to take you somewhere private, start. a. fight. Insist as LOUDLY and as VIOLENTLY as you can that you refuse to go anywhere with them. Odds are they’re trying to make as little of a scene as possible as they drag you away, and if you’re putting up a fight and very clearly ‘drunk’, eyes will turn on them and they’ll either need to let you go, or cause a serious scene, which they don’t want. Don’t just act like you’re just protesting being taken home, though. Fight like your life depends on it even if they aren’t assaulting you. Cause. A. Scene. That’s the last thing they want.
Everyone should reblog this!
Yoo that lightning one is scaryyyy omg lol

Cops arrest guy, hold him 5 days, release him, arrest him again as he walks out of jail, hold him 5 more days, release him, then arrest him as he walks out of jail again.
A Palm Springs man has been held in the Banning jail for nearly two weeks — released twice and then immediately re-arrested at the jailhouse gate — without ever being charged with a crime.
“It is clearly not the intent of the Legislature that a government can play this game. By this reasoning, you could incarcerate somebody for the rest of their life in this way.”
The arraignment never came. He was told charges wouldn’t be filed against him and he would be released the following day. He was escorted through the jail gates at about 5 a.m., but was then immediately re-arrested by a Palm Springs police officer who was waiting outside the facility. The officer then took Ramirez back into the jail where he was re-booked and taken back to a jail cell.
Palm Springs police defended the repeat arrests, saying they were a “common procedure” …
Translating the toddler to the grown-up words: The unconstitutional practice is okay, because we do it anytime we decide we have a good reason.
Just because something is common doesn’t mean it’s right (or legal). I mean, this whole instance is just fucking abusive and reprehensible. What happened to due process? What happened to the Sixth Amendment?
Police have not released any details about any of Ramirez’s three recent arrests. Because he has never been charged in court it is unclear in what case he is a suspect. County court records show Ramirez has prior drug convictions but has not faced any previous violent or sex crime charges.
This is the scary part, you’re going to be arrested and held over and over and over again with no charges and they’re not going to give any indication as to why. Is there any evidence he is implicated in any crime at all?
“But he’s poor, we didn’t think anyone would care” That’s what I gathered.
