in the US, you'll often see two gas stations across the street from the other. this can seem odd, or even like a design flaw, but the reason for this is to better accommodate drivers, without requiring people to turn around or drive through traffic to reach a station. there's a reason for it! and that reason is poor street design

to put it another way: in america, it's easier to build a second gas station 50 feet away from the first, than it is to turn around in a lane

No one's building two petrol stations on random b roads because they won't see enough custom to keep the lights on. This isn't poor road design, it's common sense.

In the UK you see double petrol stations primarily on major motorways and is because sometimes it is in fact cheaper and crucially safer to build two petrol stations than trying to engineer a situation to allow perpendicular crossings of three lanes of traffic moving at or above the speed limit of 70mph in each direction. Bridges are massive infrastructure projects that would close the road for construction. You don't get traffic lights on motorways. You don't get t junctions on motorways. The entire goal of motorway design is to keep traffic moving as smoothly and continuously as possible!

In this situation, 'two petrol stations' is actually the correct and appropriate response, especially when you consider the volume of traffic those stations serve!

my advice for not going insane? try to do something every weekend. go to events, you’ll love events. and not like just hang out with ur friends or go clubbing , no, make a day out of going to some local market by yourself or attend some strange convention event you’ve never heard of. i cannot stress the importance of doing random events on a friday night or saturday or a sunday at r pm for mentally ill people especially if you’re depressed and have been searching for an anchor 2 tether yourself to. attend some events now
