Firefighter demonstrates how to put out a kitchen fire

Reblog to actually save a life

To explain. The latter works because you’re cutting off the supply of oxygen to the fire and suffocating it

as opposed to slapping oxygen inside the pan with the downward motion

Reblogging, because this is so important. When I was learning how to cook for myself in my tweens, I had at least a five years of fire safety seminars from school drilling this into my head, and I STILL had that instinctive put-the-fire-out-with-water reflex. Didn’t even think. I saw our oily burner catch fire after frying eggs, whipped around towards the sink for water, and my brain immediately screamed NO!!! NO WATER! I mean that fire safety stuff straight up bitchslapped me out of REFLEXIVELY setting my house on fire. I found a pot lid and inched it over the burner before turning off the heat. Even if you think you know this stuff, panic is powerful shit. Make knowledge more powerful.

Hi, Sheoldred. I hear rumor that you've got Urabrask's back now. That's pretty cool of you. Fighting for freedom, and individuality and totally not just scoping out said back for good spots to stick a knife in. Really wholesome of you.

(finally fails to keep myself from laughing)

Ah, good times. Never change, you wonderful machine mommy.

I don't know what you mean~ the freedom of our people is such a wonderfully naive cause for Urabrask to pour his molten heart into. He'll learn the true nature of people eventually, but I'll be here for him! Until the end.

Odilemon Level: Perfect (Ultimate) Attribute: Data

A Bird Man Digimon that dances with icy elegance. It has synthesized its dark and light aspects, achieving true neutrality. As such, it is generally unconcerned with questions of good and evil, preferring to hone its dancing skills over anything else. Its Special Moves are firing vacuum blades towards the opponent with graceful movements from its wings (“Mistral Rapier”) and emitting a mournful cry from its beak, sinking those who hear it into an unfeeling stupor until they waste away (“Black Swan Song”). Suggested pre-evolved forms: Swanmon, Mallardmon, FairyTailmon, Cockatrimon, D'Arcmon, Kiwimon, Harpymon, Saberdramon

Suggested evolved forms: ???, ???, Enchantmon, Theramon, FrosVelgrmon, AncientIrismon, Ordinemon, Junomon, Mastemon

I’ve just drawn a quick example of what it looks like with the beak open

The creator of Dilbert has spouted maniacal hate filled nonsense on the internet for some 20 years yet it's only just now that any of his racist tirades were noticed enough by mainstream media to hurt his career? I'm amazed he got away with it as long as he did. It was already in the early 2000s he was blogging about how he thinks women are all lying harpies and whores and still no one dared drop his little office cartoons.

I'm surprised how many Tumblr people didn't know he was like this, I mean nobody here cares that much about Dilbert but you'd think everyone would have noticed that the man who draws fucking Dilbert of all things is a radical incel mgtow mutant, also believes he's a sex wizard, purposely just stood by watching his child die and that's just what's known from his public posts he personally chose to share. People have been following and ridiculing his behavior since the early internet and he's never slowed it down.

Not knowing that you have a villain inside you, a hero, and a bystander is a lesson that everyone should learn.

What is the quote from Jingo, by Sir Terry Pratchett, to the effect of "when someone does something terrible, we want it to be one of Them, because if it isn't Them, then it is Us?"

“It was because he wanted there to be conspirators. It was much better to imagine men in some smoky room somewhere, made mad and cynical by privilege and power, plotting over the brandy. You had to cling to this sort of image, because if you didn’t then you might have to face the fact that bad things happened because ordinary people, the kind who brushed the dog and told their children bedtime stories, were capable of then going out and doing horrible things to other ordinary people. It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone’s fault. If it was Us, what did that make Me? After all, I’m one of Us. I must be. I’ve certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We’re always one of Us. It’s Them that do the bad things.”

Jingo. 1997. Pratchett, Terry. NY, London, and Ankh-Morpork: Harper-Collins. p. 205

"I've acquired the targets. I am ready to return." Sheoldred exhaled—Karn could not tell if she sighed with disappointment or satisfaction—and a scarlet light, at first only the size of a bead, materialized in the air behind her. Lightning threaded it as that light expanded into a shining, whirling scarlet globe. It roared with power, eating into the air and environment around it. It grew toward them, gnawing at the atmosphere.

Sheoldred tilted her head and touched her face. "What a shame. I liked this one."

Actual line from the players guide. Samus is canonically not afraid of looking silly.

I don’t know why but that just made my day even better than it already is.
