I say this as the child of a cop and a prosecutor. To those with family in the police force, when we say all cops are bastards we mean them too. I don’t care if your dad would never do those things. I don’t care if your brother is one of the “good cops”. You cannot defend them while condemning cops like Derek Chauvin because all cops are part of the problem.

The systematic targeting and murder of black people at the hands of cops is not just the fault of those who pull the trigger or ignore someone screaming for air, it’s everyone they work with who protect them and try to cover it up. These protests were PEACEFUL until undercover cops started showing up and taking things to the extreme in order for the riot police to justify using tear gas and rubber bullets, and these are the same cops that did nothing when white armed protestors stormed government buildings just because they wanted a haircut.

So yes, all cops are bastards, even the ones you’re related to, because they all chose to be a part of the system that continues to injure and kill black people and that is unacceptable.
