this is unrelated but i’m acquainted with a couple who both served in the US military and they’re both like, enthusiastic members of the subculture that mostly consists of psychiatric navel-gazing, and yet for all their talk about trauma they don’t seem to have any qualms about the US military or being a part of what the US military does to other people
when bad things happen to white americans, it’s trauma and a serious problem. but when the US military inflicts violence against brown people in other countries, their experiences are just acceptable collateral damage for your own personal narrative, i guess
sure your whole family might have gotten killed but how are we supposed to manage our very important ADHD without VA benefits
