Star Wars Kenobi Tribute
This shot is produced inside unity and maya, i made it in around 2 days as huge fan of the star wars franchise. I wanted produce a little tribute for the relase of the new show: Kenobi.
Here is the game view with a standard setup to show the overall feel of the shot. I used unity 2021.3 with HDRP , setting up a proper volume and using 3 lights to achieve the result i was looking for: tatooine.
The N1 starfighter is quickly made inside maya , it had to serve the purpose of the shot so while still having a good look is not filled of details.
All of the particles are made using the vfx graph , i edited the free unity flipbook textures to achieve a nicer, more dusty, look. The effects are sequenced so to emulate sand dispersion and windy effects.
The desert is completly made using the shader graph and procedural nodes, no texture was used. The programmed shader comes with values for the surface animations which has 3 layers : dunes, sand and sand areas allowing separate control for velocity and animation.It also let choose the overall angle and brighter sand points.
For the shot i crossed the plane , which hosts this shader, with a blendshape to achieve a nice rut on the ground for the moved sand.
The flares and post processing are achieved with the srp flare component and overrides on the main volume as visual environment, physical based sky, screen space reflection, color, gamma and gain correction, volumetric clouds, dof and an fog.
There are also local fog volumes to achieve a better effect during the camera transition. The lightsaber effect is a quick material i made using the shader graph.

There are also other effects, as the heath effect, achieved using the vfx graph with the advantage of the distortion node. The result has a really nice look and quick to produce as well as to render.
