seeing people talk about the new animated superman show reminds me that the issue superman's had for the last few decades in mainstream media, which is that too many dudebros assume the point of his character is about his "power". like "oooh look how scary he could be, if superman were real he'd be soooo dangerous" and missing the real truth. the ultimate truth. the actual truth:

Dudebros see these powerful guys and want to turn them into their tortured scary Jesus allegories (see Zack Snyder's godawful Superman films) but Superman and Spider-Man are fundamentally representations of a very Jewish-American archetype of heroism. Spider-Man tells kids "You have power, and your responsibility is to use that power for good." Superman tells kids "Even if you can do anything you want, it's important to be noble and kind." There's a reason Spider-Man and Superman are (historically) the most popular superheroes of all time, and it's because they rock!
