A letter

He’s in combat but he receives a letter from you. It’s a picture of an ultrasound.
I love to give background on whose I’m writing for relationship, oops.
Warnings: Kinda sucks, oh well. Simon slips a tear🥺

The relationship you and Simon had was real. You’ve been through it all with him. It started way back in middle school, he was your best friend and you to him. You both were thick as thrives. When he told you he joined the army right when he turned 18 your world crumbled a little. He’d be far away from you, and you had to tell him your big secret, “Simon, I love you.” You broke into a sob.

It may have been a rash decision but you and he eloped before he was sent away for basic training. Now seven years later he was in Task Force 141 and your marriage and relationship was stronger than ever.

Kids had been mentioned once or twice before. Simon was always apprehensive due to his childhood but he never turned down the idea. Thinking of you all swollen up with his child did something to him. If it ever happened he hoped it would be a girl and for her to be identical to you, but if a boy he would be happy too.

About a month ago you sent your husband off with a kiss, “I’ll see you soon?” you asked sadly.

“Of course. I love you,” he replied. For the last few weeks spent with Simon before he left, you were emotional. Simon didn’t think much of it as his next deployment was coming up and usually you grew moppy.

A week after he left you grew sick in the mornings and hated the smells of your favorite foods, so, you sat in the bathroom with a pregnancy test in hand. Three minutes passed and it popped up positive.

Simon sat in the bedroom that he would call his for the unforeseeable future as a knock was heard at his door. “Come in.”

It was Price holding a letter up in his hand, “Your girl sent it. She marked it as a high priority.” he spoke. Price left the room after handing him the letter.

It was known not to send letters or have any sort of phone calls or communication while on missions as it could put a target on your back if heard or seen by the wrong people. It must’ve been important if the main base sent a soldier to drop it off at the safe house.

Simon grew worried as he looked at the letter in his hands. Your handwriting was neatly displayed with the base’s address in your hometown and no return address. Good girl, he thought.

Inside the envelope, there was a picture then another smaller envelope. Simon flipped the picture around to see an ultrasound of something that he couldn’t make up. In the top corner was your name Y/N Riley and the local hospital’s name. As he looked closer at the picture he noticed an arrow pointing at a little light circle and it said, Baby.

Simon froze as he looked at the little picture, suddenly his world was getting even brighter. Now he had something else to fight for. He then opened the other envelope and it contain a letter all folded up to fit.

I know we didn’t necessarily plan this, but I have to say I’m excited. I can’t wait to see you as a daddy. It’s four weeks and due in December. I can’t wait to see you Si, I love and miss you. Stay safe L.T.

-Y/N

Simon felt a tear fall down his cheek with a growing smile, he was going to be a dad.
