This is kind of true actually. In Russian we reffer to different types of apartment buildings by the surname of whoever was in power in USSR at the time, the 3 main types are: ‘Stalinka’, ‘Khruschevka’ and ‘Brezhnevka’, the styles are distinct enough from each other to the point that you could easily distinguish them at a glance if you know what to look for. But the main thing is that ’-ka’ is a feminine ending in Russian which means that all soviet apartment buildings are, in fact, girls.

im not Jewish nor am I educated enough on the topic to speak from any place of authority but its very concerning/frustrating/fucking aggravating how much antisemitism is seeping into leftists circles again (not that it ever really left). like popular bloggers on here are posting memes that have like 5 dog whistles in a row in them and are completely ignoring or mocking anyone that points it out. After all its all "ironic" anyways, so its actually funny to say "hollywood is full of devil worshipping, blood drinking, pedophiles" and not the oldest trick in the antisemitic playbook.

This feels on par to Lily Orchard calling Contrapoints antisemitic for having a "lizard people" joke on a tshirt she sold. Sure hollywood "elites" probably don't drink blood or sacrifice babies or whatever, but there is undoubtedly a ton of exploitation, csa, adult sa, and other monsterous shit in hollywood, and calling it out isn't antisemitic, even if antisemites make the same accusations (just from the perspective that they do it becausw jews, not because rich capitalists or whatever. This feels like saying you can't criticize banks for predatory lending because "usury" was pushed on jews as an occupation in catholic Europe because the church banned Christians from making money off of loans so now you're antisemitic for saying high interest loans prey on poor people with high debts. Idk man, there obviously is a bigotry problem on the left, but I also feel like there are good and bad ways of calling it out
I'm not here to argue whether Contrapoints is an antisemite but lets address the shirt quickly. if Contrapoints knew enough about it to put "David Icke was right" in the description of the shirt, she should have known not to try to profit off a harmful "globalism" conspiracy that has been used to attack and perpetuate violence against Jewish people for decades, no matter her intent to reframe it as being about Capitalists and big business.
Rich people in Hollywood or anywhere else definitely don't drink blood or sacrifice babies, the only people who say that could be happening are antisemitic conspiracy theories and fascists. Saying they "probably don't" implies there is even a possibility of it happening, which there is not.
Abuse happens everywhere in the world, were more often aware of the violence and exploitation that happens in Hollywood because newspapers are more likely to report on high profile people causing harm to others. This isn't to say it's not important to talk about, but talking about it in a completely different framework creates a bias that the abuse in Hollywood is somehow much worse and more common than in say, the Catholic Church.
It antisemitic to call something out when you use antisemitic talking points to do it. That's literally how conspiracy theories spread, become more digestable, and create dog whistles in the first place. That's why terms like lizard people, new world order, globalists and all the rest exist. You're literally doing the fascists work for them by talking like this.
You can criticize banks for predatory lending without implying Jewish people or even tangentially related to it. Capitalists financially prey on poor people through predatory lending, overdraft fees, and fine lines in contracts to perpetuate a cycle of poverty while profiting off of it significantly. You don't even need to bring up banks.
You're right, there is a bigotry problem on the left, but addressing it is the only way to work through it. I didn't even mention a specific user, so this isn't calling anyone out. It's talking about behaviour that I have seen time and time again in leftists circles that I'm frankly fucking sick of and if you actually gave a shit instead of hand waving it all away as call outs and personal attacks you would be sick of it too.
